For what it’s worth (about a penny hal’penny) I’m with the Listener although my heart says Beef or Salmon.

Npo strong opinions but on soft ground Halcon Generlardais shouldn’t be a 33/1 shot. Far better judged on his Welsh National run than his last effort when he was never trvaelling or jumping with fluency from an early stage. Blinkers should help sharpen him up and is still open to improvement given a thorugh test of stamina.

If it is a bog , heavy going in common parlance , I will be with Halcon Genelardais with State of Play/Beef or Salmon to be the bridesmaids.

Unles there is rain during the Festival, I would be surprised if the ground is worse than Good by the Friday.

Kauto Star should win if he jumps ok but it’s a big IF and is not much value now. Exotic Dancer looks a big danger. Beef or Salmon will love the ground if it stays on the soft side and I’ve backed him at 20’s but this is mainly because I think his price will be a lot shorter on the day so I can lay it off for a free bet.

What about Kingscliff (ew)?  Acts on the course, stays, will like the going, best fresh, etc.

OK I forgot, totally out of form, but he will be a fresh horse.

Danny if Our Vic runs in the GC Murphy will obviously ride and more than likely Graham Lee will take over on RD. If Our Vic goes elsewhere expect Murphy in the saddle.

Have they confirmed RD is going for the GC? For me he’d have a much better chance in the Ryanair.. Looked good over 2m 4f in the peterborough

I’m pretty sure Hen is aiming Racing Demon at the Gold Cup.

Not according to the RP website where she is quoted as expressing strong preference for the shorter Ryanair on account of the likely testing going

I must of read a much older article because it had said the Gold Cup was the plan Lingfield. Don’t think it will stay the Gold Cup trip personally so I would go for the Ryanair.

Knight is now saying that RD goes for the Ryanair only a few days after saying that he goes for the big one.  As the ground dried out in the intervening period I have trouble believing that she blamed the state of the ground.  I hope the race doesn’t cut up too much.

The Kauto star predicament is fascinating to me.  On the one hand, his tendency to hit a fence badly at the business end of the race combined with the stamina doubts on heavy ground with a strong gallop, makes him look no value at all.   However, part of me is thinking he could actually dispel all doubts and hose in.  I like State of Play e.w but the Williams yard is not particularly firing and I’m not exactly sure how much he beat in the Hennessy.  Will be interested watching Juveigneur on day one to see if the form stands up.
