The other thing they like doing is pointing across the North Sea at Norway and tell us what they’re doing with their oil and asking why we don’t do the same. It is of course a country that has the significant advantage of never having been run by Margaret Thatcher which is possibly why they were a bit more sensible with theirs.
March 25, 2026 at 17:53 #1760951On the subject of solar panels, there’s still an element on the right who appear to believe that the country would grind to a halt if a cloud covered the sun. Idiots.
Indeed, solar panels still generate electricity when it’s cloudy, having a range of 10-25% of that in full sun, and efficiency at all light levels continues to improve as this technology is still immature.
That China is investing heavily in solar is common knowledge; perhaps lesser known is that the Middle-Eastern oil-producing countries are doing much the same. Climate-wise they are, of course, ideal.

According to Heather the oil that America produces it exports and has to import oil from other places. I’d need to listen to what she said again( however, with my goldfish brain I still probably wouldn’t remember or understand it).
March 25, 2026 at 21:39 #1760991This article is a decent summary of crude oil types and explains why oil from the North Sea is particularly valuable; so much so that the term ‘Brent Crude’ has become the trading benchmark, largely replacing the chemically similar ‘West Texas Intermediate (WTI) Crude’ which, as it predates the discovery of north sea oil, was the benchmark.
Simplistically, the ‘light sweet’ crudes from the above are easier to refine and used primarily for fuel, whereas the ‘heavy sour’ crudes from such as Venezuela and much of the Middle-East are more difficult to refine and used primarily as chemical feedstock for a myriad of industrial purposes.
Hence, as per your point…
According to Heather the oil that America produces it exports and has to import oil from other places
…I take to mean that the USA exports its surplus of abundant light crude but has to import the heavy crude it doesn’t have.
A complex business, oil.

It ends happily
March 26, 2026 at 10:54 #1761012Thanks Drone. Every day is a learning day is it not.
March 26, 2026 at 17:09 #1761028It doesn’t half go quiet when you present facts or request some figures or evidence to back up assertions.
March 26, 2026 at 21:51 #1761067Yet we should ask “how high?” when this idiot orders us to jump, apparently.
March 26, 2026 at 22:32 #1761069Trump has now extended his deadline by 10 days. What this is all about is that Isreal is expected to capitulate within this time frame, so he can walk away with some dignity left. As I said earlier this is another Vietnam.
March 26, 2026 at 23:31 #1761072When is a deadline not a deadline? When it’s a maybe next week line or possibly the week after line. If it wasn’t so bloomin’ serious it would be funny. I’ve now reached the conclusion that the King shouldn’t go on that state visit because I wouldn’t put it past Trump or Netanyahu to shoot his plane down to drag us into the war. Or am I being even more paranoid than usual. I’d better listen to the latest of Heathers podcasts to drag me back down into a more rational reality.
March 26, 2026 at 23:39 #1761073Yet still the allegedly all knowing ‘markets’ rise and fall on this moron’s every word. As you say moe it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious.
March 27, 2026 at 01:25 #1761076There are a lot of people involved in this manipulating of the markets.
March 27, 2026 at 11:22 #1761086Nobody should visit the USA, especially our King. It is a dangerous place and getting more dangerous by the minute.
March 29, 2026 at 11:03 #1761393Israel is being systematically destroyed and there are no US bases left in the Middle East. In addition, there are massive anti-war protests in both Israel and the USA. We are close to the end; the question is who will crack first, Israel or the USA?

Also, Badenoch has now finally admitted what anyone with half a brain knew weeks ago that even if new licenses are granted, it’s not going to make bills cheaper. I’m sure it would help oil companies’ profits and line politicians’ pockets further though.
March 29, 2026 at 12:33 #1761399A Tory wanting to line pockets …..
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 30, 2026 at 16:37 #1761466With Israel in pieces and unable to send troops to Iran, Trump and the USA are alone to continue this war. Now that China has sent special weapons to Iran to defend themselves only a madman would attack. Yet we know Trump is completely bonkers, so who knows?
Last week the Philippines declared a national emergency as they were fast running out of fuel. China has just delivered a tanker of fuel to them. So one power causes hardship and misery to everyone while the other goes out of its way to help. For the last 80 years we in tbe UK have been backing the wrong horse!
