At the moment i’m listening to Craig Armstrong. Never heard of him before this week but he does a lot of music for Movies etc and loving his style! Escape is one of my favourites, really good stuff :D

Lots of Clubland TV stuff at the moment – I´m feeling kinda happy.

Most notably Put A Donk On It (annoying my workmates with this one), Candyfloss and When It Was Me.

Oh and a classic my Maski called Bom Bim Bom – loving my continental music

just found Yeasayer on myspace; there doesn’t seem to be much on utube for them….TV on the Radio sound interesting, I think they’re on Jools Holland tonight, yet another Brooklyn band..however I am still in hippie heaven having seen my beloved Levellers do an accoustic set at Buxton Town Hall on Friday….I think their latest album is as good as anything they’ve ever done..but I would think that!

Tomorrow (Cambridgshire Day) I hope to be able to buy tickets for the Steel City Tour in Manchester in December.

This is a makeup of Heaven 17, ABC and the Human League.

Should be a good pre Christmas night out.

I was disappointed with them having read a rave review in the Observer, but I only saw the Tuesday night Jools Holland show..my son in law tells me that their last album is better….

TV On The Radio – the Senser revival starts here! And like most of those old acts from ca 1993 that we old f*rts used to call either Collision Pop or Rap-Rock, they sound mighty on record but sadly a bundle of hollow, impotent rage live.

Love them as I do on record, Asian Dub Foundation have the same problem in the flesh.

On the same episode of Later…, apart from the current single the new Kaiser Chiefs material was the aural equivalent of eating soil. Extradordinarily ordinary.

Reassuringly, the highlight of the show by a long, long margin was the peerless Seasick Steve. Performance of the current series for me so far, alongside Roots Manuva and Nicole Atkins.

Coldplay and Snow Patrol feature in the next two weeks – judicious use of the mute button seems inevitable.

managed to catch the Friday Jools Holland on bbc i and the second song that tv on the radio did was much better [yet another Brooklyn Band]..however, Return to Cookie Mountain seems to be the better album…must listen to Late of the Pier because they are our local band…I love Kaiser Chiefs [sorry]..one of the teachers at my daughters school used to go out with Ricky a long time ago..she was a bit on the tubby side, and every time she walked down the corridor the kids used to sing ‘I predict a diet…’

That’s sounds a great night! Saw ABC a few ago when they were support to a supposed mega star. They made the night for me. Hope you have a good time.

I think Return To Cookie Mountain (the last TV On The Radio album) is brilliant: the distorted guitars and grungey synths give it a dystopian atmosphere that I dig (imagine a nightmarish future city with crackling neon and smoke coming out of manholes!) and its mixed with African drumming. Their last one (Dear Science) is not so… it’s like a post-modern take of Prince, with lame funky-trumpet bits and high-pitched singing (and three brilliant songs which return to the R.T.C.M sound).

years ago a van went past me and on the side was written ‘Shaymus O’Blivion and the Megadeath Morrismen’..now, I’m quite partial to a bit of morris dancing having done a bit at primary school, so made a note of the name..with the wonder of the web I’ve found them on myspace, and they’re not morris dancers but a folk band; they do songs such as ‘a nice cup of tea’ and ‘wibbly wobbly’..I’m sorry to say that, after all these years of searching for them they’re awful…

    This week I have been mostly listening to some winsome 80s guitar-pop. Such a pity these chaps never made it big. Dreadful video, wonderful song;

Thanks!!!! Amadou and Mariam played Glastonbury a couple of years ago; I saw some of their set on the telly but didn’t catch their name..I really loved them….can now find out more about them on utube..

Moe – if you’re still up at 00:35, and you see this in time, Amadou and Mariam guest on Later… again tonight. Failing that, I guess it’ll be hacked to bits and shoved onto Youtube or BBCi in the fullness of time. A welcome distraction to these two divisions of the Wincanton bumper for me, I think… 8)
