California Dreaming for me!

What’s happened to these lot? Website been inaccessible for ages and no word about recording or touring. Hope they haven’t split up?
Nope, the complete opposite – their set at Latitude previewed as much of the forthcoming album as it did reprise the last one. I suspect the website will spring to life again sometime in the very near future.
TINDERSTICKS
Hopefully they did My Sister and Can We Start Again – their two best songs? Always associate the former with a long drive back from Hexham Races once.
They had to can some of the longer tracks, which I presume would have included My Sister, after the stage staff’s incompetence shaved 20 minutes off their set time. The first five tracks were the first five off the new album, that much I do know.
Hopefully it was the sublimely wondrous “When I Dream”?
Nope, Sleeping Gas, and only I suspect because he could Krautrock it up a bit.
It wasn’t the most shambolic set I’ve either seen or heard about in the last fortnight, though. I spent yesterday and Saturday at the INDIETRACKS jangle / C86 / anorak / tweepop festival in Derbyshire, and whilst most of the sets gave indiepop a good name, both Comet Gain and Strawberry Story (who’ve both been doing this for 20 years or more and should know better) were utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly appalling.

Cant believe it. Well made up with that. Just have to get the time of work and Im laughing.

August 9, 2008 at 12:17 #176519Any idea what time Muse are playing? My son wants to see The Chemical Brothers and Prodigy, but above all wants to see Muse..hope they don’t clash….
August 9, 2008 at 15:19 #176541From what I understand the prodigy and muse are likely to clash but the chemicals are on the next night. They were absolutely amazing last time.
Im sort of stuck between the prodigy and muse, I saw the prodigy last time and they were really good but at the same time have always wanted to see muse.
At the last festival we finished off every night going to see a dance act (groove armada, prodigy, chemical brothers) and it worked quite well, and we watched a lot of the bands earlier in the day.
Muse will be good, and I love to listen to them, but with the prodigy its not just the performance it’s the atmosphere and everything that goes with, everyone just goes mental at the prodigy. But I found at the other one that further back you are the better, it was a complete crush up near the front, people bumping into your back but you cant move your feet to stay balanced, then your leaning into other people and their getting pissed off because they think thats its you pushing etc etc etc, I soon moved back, before my head was completely melted and found it really good abck where there was a bit more space.
Whatever he does he can’t miss the chemicals, it was the opinion of most that they were the best at oxegen, ive heard a few people saying that they blew glastobury away. Last time I expected them to be good but knowhere near as good as they were.
If there is time difference between muse and the prodigy I will probably watch what I can off both. It is quite likely though with muse that you will get a general gist of what it was like watching ti back, but for me I’ll just go with the flow and end up where I end up.

Did your son enjoy the festival Moehat, Im just really getting over it now, been knackered all week in work.
September 3, 2008 at 22:34 #179245my son didn’t get to see Chemical Brothers as they clashed with Kings of Leon [his girlfriends choice, I think]..but said Muse were good…..said it was a nicer atmosphere than Leeds which is where he usually goes…he must be getting old because he had the sense to borrow a pair of wellies from the porch..unfortunately they had holes in them..the tent is still in the garage drying out!
