Value Is EverythingMarch 16, 2008 at 17:58 #151864One of the best horses not to win a Champion Chase. I would say his chance has now gone with his accumalative injuries and the emergence of MM.
March 16, 2008 at 18:22 #151873the highest rated 2 miler not to win the Champion Chase [or so I was told last year].
March 16, 2008 at 18:41 #151883lovely lovely horse sadly out of action i always wanted him to do so well after azza was retired as he reminds me of him… i only hope they give him best now rather than keep trying him… hope he gets a lonng happy retiremeant like my boy azza…………….
xMarch 16, 2008 at 18:56 #151892I was lucky enough to be at Cheltenham in 2005 for his epic with Moscow Flyer – the best two-miler of his generation (please don’t mention Master Minded in the same breath).
He ran a cracking race for a 6YO, going down by 2L with Azertyuiop a distant third. His Celebration Chase victory at Sandown on his next start was simply sensational and who will ever forget his weight carrying performance in the Victor Chandler – still the best weight carrying performance I’ve seen.
Hope he can come back. Remember, Moscow Flyer won his final Champion Chase at Eleven – there’s still time. Fingers crossed.
March 18, 2008 at 14:01 #152277I think I read last week that the rating he got for coming second to Moscow Flyer in 2005 would have won the previous 20 Champion Chases!
Great horse but only himself to blame for not winning last year. The race was there for the taking.March 18, 2008 at 15:41 #152320my dad backed him at 5/1 for this years QMCC but if he had turned up do you think he would have won? cant see it myself but ya never know….
March 18, 2008 at 15:53 #152324Great warrior, that Victor Chandler win lives in my memory still.
Even if he came back, he wouldn’t live with Master Minded though. For a young man like myself, the Well Chief, Azertyuiop, Moscow Flyer years were brilliant.
