Who is this TDK? The boss of Corals or what?
My experiences with Corals have never been good…….tried to get 6k on with them at 5/1 a few years back sand they offered me 200 quid at 5/1 and the rest at SP……….maybe they have changed but in the 90’s they were the worst bookmakers on earth…..I would lay any one on the planet a large bet at SP……….take the money stick 4k on at 5/1 at the course and start a rush on the horse….I get 24K back if it wins..SP is 3/1 and I pay out 21.2K so I have 2k + 2.8K profit with no risk.
If it loses I still have 2k profit.
Corals don’t do a thing unless it’s in there favour….they are accountants not Bokkmakers……………thank them for what?
No offence TDK but as far as I am concerned your the enemy

March 15, 2008 at 19:57 #151608I bet nothing like the amounts FOF seems to (but please…keep it to yourslef…we arent really interested in that info….
) but have quite a few accounts around the placeMaybe its just me, but Coral are often the most likely of the bigger players to "take a view". Im happy enough with that and its the only account i have with any of the big three
March 16, 2008 at 05:31 #151703Sorry Clive I was rat assed last night mate don’t even remeber posting that

Don’t kid yourself about the big boys they will only take large bets on races like the gold cup where it’s much easier to cover there backsides.
I never believe a word they say about massive losses……….if they are losing you can bet your life they are also winning by laying much of it off somewhere.
Go in and try and get a few grand on at 6/1 at Ayr in a 7 runner handicap e.g. if you are a known to them as being in the know……….they will lay you no more than 5% of what your asking and the rest at SP……….in other words the 2nd word is Off!!!

I assume by reading the posts TDK works with them I did ask the question
Which I am sure you could answer but chose not to………it seems this is a private party so I will toddle off and mind my own business
March 16, 2008 at 08:39 #151720Fists, I think it is fairly general knowledge on here that tdk works for them, I believe, as an odds compiler.
There is no private party for you to butt out of.

March 16, 2008 at 10:09 #151728If anyone would care to while away some time on a quiet Sunday reprising the TRF brains’ trust’s opinions on Denman pre/post Hennessy, which includes TDK’s unequivocal conversion to his cause, then here are the threads:

All punters who profess to take their betting seriously should make a point of conducting a rigourous post-mortem on their race/horse analysis – win-or-lose / right-or-wrong; it is interesting, educational and crucial in equal measure.
March 16, 2008 at 10:32 #151742Interesting reading indeed Drone, it’s quite illuminating to read one’s own posts months later, sobering even.
I was wrong about this ….”have to say I was disappointed with Katchit. Looked a boy against men at the last. If he can’t account for Al Eile he isn’t going to win a Champion Hurdle.”
But very correct about this…”You wouldn’t be able to claim from Fist of Fury as those amongst society who are INSANE are protected from that sort of thing aren’t they?”
Fist – If you get it right then good and well but if you get it wrong, especially when you shout as loudly as you do, you gotta stand up and take it like a man.
March 16, 2008 at 16:57 #151850In the ring, on course, Denman drifted a bit to 9/4.
Does anyone know how the Exchanges went about the race?
Btw, the last time I looked at Coral’s board, they had joint favs. That was quite early in the day, however.
March 17, 2008 at 12:08 #152004If memory serves Denman touched 3.55 (3.42 net of 5% base-rate commission) so just less than 5/2.
The mysterious Betfair SP was 3.25 (3.14 net) so slightly worse than the ‘industry’ SP of 9/4.
Reportedly, no 5/2 was laid on-course, though always possible it was laid to a score somewhere in the remoter parts of the silver rings
March 17, 2008 at 12:19 #152007Thanks, Drone.
Was there much money wanting to lay KS?
March 17, 2008 at 13:04 #152022Don’t take the following as gospel, as I’ve better things to do than stare at screens all day, but it was something like this:
Betfair’s day-of-race market more-or-less mirrored the books, with KS being strong all day (gradual cut from ~2.2 to to ~1.92 before late opposition to settle at a Betfair SP of 2.01 (1.96 net, marginally better than the industry SP of 10/11), and Denman weak out from ~3.0 to ~3.5 before later money cut it back to the SP of 3.25.
‘Much money’ is hard to quantify but there were certainly five-figures up in both the back and lay boxes all afternoon for KS
About 10M matched on the day-of-race market in all
