Good stuff, Cormack. Very much appreciate your efforts!
1. The “Ascot” home page looks great.
2. On the main index I don’t see the point of the numbers in brackets beside the sub-divisions, otherwise looks good.
3. “Recent Forum Replies” and “Recent Topics” looks very messy over on the side. Detracts from the entire page with its mish-mash of colours, icons and random words. Kindergarten look to it.
4. Topics layout looks good, (besides the aforementioned).
5. On the posts themselves, I’d like to see more contrast between the individual posts, for me a darker grey border between them would be better. At the moment the entire page looks very white and just blends into itself. Its all about the posts at the end of the day, so highlighting them better would be welcome imo.
6. The members name under the avatar could do with more highlighting too. Perhaps make it bigger or the font bolder. I guess we all have our “scroll through” or “stop at” members, so highlighting their names better, makes that task easier.
7. A few emoticons wouldn’t go amiss.Cheers
February 28, 2015 at 20:18 #769322TheHorsesMouth… you Sir are a star. 11-1 too Sir Scorpion! Mine ran like a drain, sorry.
February 28, 2015 at 20:18 #769323This font is 10 x better too.
February 28, 2015 at 20:37 #769435Cav – agree with all your points. All do-able I think, I’ll have a go at some of it tonight.
February 28, 2015 at 20:55 #769529A couple of things from me, apologies if they have already been raised but there’s already 106 posts on this thread.
1). It doesn’t seem possible to use colours to highlight text, have we lost this function ?
2). I cannot see any way to “quote” a previous post, has this gone as well ?
3). A lot of my posts prior to the update, look weird. In some cases the text is not readable as there are “codes” all over the place. Is this going to change, or have we basically “lost” these posts ?
I appreciate that when changes occur things will be different, but it seems that the above 3 are fairly baisic and I am a little surprised that they are causing problems.

I’ve just gone into my profile to try and change my old email address (which is now defunct)….to the one I now use….it won’t let me change it though saying mine is already in use?February 28, 2015 at 23:54 #770819if I try to un-tick the box “notify me of follow up replies via email”…..it keeps sending me emails and re-instates the tick everytime I try to un-tick the damn thing
my general email box is full of unwanted emails and I only wanted to see what your changes are all about….it’s 8 years since I was last on TRF and many of the emails are complaints about one thing or another, so add this one to the list
March 1, 2015 at 00:01 #770881that tick box seems to work ok for me caravan…anyone else having problems with it?

Who says TAPK is the only legend on here, hope you cashed in!
March 1, 2015 at 11:19 #775238Seems a lot faster , font a bit bigger , so Id say things are looking better

Ps Rickylake2 was far nicer ….:)

Cav/all –
2. Agree – can’t suss it but can be removed so as soon as we figure it it’ll go
3. I’ve reduced this (number of topics displayed) from 5 to 3 and tidied it up a bit (removed dates, etc). I use this myself (more for admin I suppose) so I’m reluctant to dispense with it entirely. I think it looks a bit tidier now though. I’ve moved the ‘search’ function to top of that sidebar too.
5. I’ve amended the background colours a tad on the posts to provide some contrast and make less glaringly white to read. Also made the ‘post divider’ bar a bit more standout colour (maybe too much?) to divide the posts a bit more clearly and avoid them all melding into one.
6. I’ve increased and changed colour of the post author name (below avatar) – Could make it stand out more but don’t want to make it all to garish – think it’s OK now but what do you all think?
7. Spent three hours last night tearing my hair out on emoticons and adding them (and also allowing users to colour text in a post). I think we need to do some coding on this to disable some software defaults. Beyond me but we’ll get it worked out.Hopefully we’re getting there. I think, in terms of looks, we’re not that far away from previous site. We can tweak just about everything in terms of fonts/colours so please let me know if anything needs adjusting. We’re trying to keep a colour theme to the site to keep it coherent though so I don’t want to have too much contrasting colours, etc, in the layout.
March 1, 2015 at 16:15 #777512Improvements already after only a couple of days
Nice work, Corm.
March 1, 2015 at 16:27 #777536All looking so much better than before already!
While I like the username under the avatar being bigger, it’s probably a little too big, as longer names are now split into two. E.g.
Stevecauti
onEdit: the font is tiny again, but only for the first two or three lines of a post
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...March 1, 2015 at 16:31 #777567Just a small observation. With the bigger font size, my username now comes up as:-
stevecautio
nOthers with longer names don’t look as bad with, for example,
The Young
FellaVenture To
CognacJust looks a bit silly for my name. Maybe I’ll change to,
Stevecashin
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

March 1, 2015 at 16:37 #777593The font size seems to vary if you navigate down the post. Also the quote comes up without the original spacing in place
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 1, 2015 at 16:38 #777594BH – I didn’t mean that to happen to the font in the posts! I’ll try to fix that now.
Sorry Steve- I had noticed that but it’s either have them bigger and over-run or smaller and they don’t stand out. I’ll try to fit you in!
Cav & BH – we have emoticons!!!!
