You’re moving the goal posts fella, If you read my post I said that right now Chelsea are in the top 3 clubs in Europe, the other two are Barcelona and Inter Milan, they ‘Chelsea’ are the champions of England, also cup winners and again, sitting top. The table and recent honours don’t lie.
October 20, 2010 at 17:58 #323533The financial structure in place at Arsenal means they are profitable, and as a business, it is extremely healthy. Chelsea operate at a loss, however they are heavily funded via a sole trader.
Arsenal has various shareholders, no-one with an overall majority, however all people with common interest, the long term future of the club. Arsenal don’t go out splashing £30 million on players as Wenger does not see the point, although the cash is available.
And this comes from a Huddersfield Town fan
October 20, 2010 at 18:01 #323536P.s. from a football perspective, Chelsea are stronger, they are defending league champions, and I fully expect them to win again this year. However in the long term, compare the average age of the squads and the financial health of each, and you will see who hands down is the healthiest looking 10 years from now.
October 20, 2010 at 18:03 #323537Fair point fella, but in the immediate’ future, the two powers are Manchester City and Chelsea.

Oh absolutely, for the next 5 years, however they run the risk of if their owners decide they want a new toy to play with, in major trouble.

Whose changing the goalposts now? Suddenly you’ve changed your sentiments to ‘immediate future’. So what does that mean, next week, next month, next year?
Of course Chelsea and Man City are in great ‘financial’ positons now, which obviously has an impact on their on-field position, but what I am saying is if the owners of them clubs walked away they’d be in dire straits. That might happen tomorrow, it might not happen for 50 years – so basically what I’m saying is the future is uncertain for them, that’s all.
Ok, the probability of Abramovich or the Arabs walking away sooner rather than later is slim, but in football you never know.
All I am saying Matthew is compare Chelsea and City’s position with Arsenal’s. If the Arsenal chairman said, right I’m off, or the shareholders decided to sell their shares, nothing would change at the club financially. And because of this, Arsenal will never get into the trouble that Chelsea or City potentially might find themselves in if their owners walked away.
Anyway mate, I don’t want to go on forever about this. Just remember, you’ll owe me a pint at the end of the season if Chelsea don’t win the title

Take care fella and thanks for the banter.
Now go and start another thread I can argue with you on

Rooney won’t leave Man United it’s all a game.
There’s plenty time to for a U-turn and if he was going I’d imagine it would be a step forward to the glamour of Real Madrid and not a step back to Man City who are about as glamourous as Partick Thistle on a bad day.
Problem is Real Madrid need Rooney and his problems like they need a hole in the head and he’s not playing well enough for them to upset what the have built. They have world class strikers coming out of their ears.
Chelsea Arsenal London? Not Rooney’s cup of tea the Cockney Rebels would have him in tears in a week.
Must be a decent bet to stay any betting on it?
October 21, 2010 at 08:18 #3236119/4 to stay everywhere.
Chelsea have shortened everywhere, it’s all over the papers today.

Today’s papers are yesterday’s news Matthew, I haven’t read a paper for 20 years – everything you need to know is freely available on the internet, and it’s up to date.
As I said in my very first post on this thread, I have a feeling Rooney will stay. I agree with Fist, there’s a lot of games being played here.
It’s a tricky one though – either he’ll stay put or he’ll never play for United again. I can’t see him playing between now until January if he is going to be sold in January. And if is to stay put he needs to come out with a grovelling press conference.
Who knows? This is football after all.

Has Chelsea written all over it.
October 22, 2010 at 09:54 #323828Chelsea and Real Madrid the value 8s and 7/2
Chelsea now slashed to 3s. I am too good!
October 22, 2010 at 11:52 #323846And as I said twice on here, once in my very first post the day the news broke… Rooney isn’t going anywhere
October 22, 2010 at 12:05 #323849Not til the summer anyway when Utd can get a bigger transfer fee!
October 22, 2010 at 12:06 #3238509/4 seems huge now, considering he got Ronaldo to say another year ., dam hindsight!

Sure it was huge until I asked for it and got knocked back.

Got my bet on in dribs and drabs but nothing remotely like 9/4.
Foregone conclusion this would happen. Agent using player power to get a better deal.
Got to be a better way for both parties than what’s in place just now.
October 22, 2010 at 12:25 #323856Could be Fist, but by all accounts Rooney has signed the same contract that he was offered in August, no improved offer was ever asked for.
The stumbling block was Rooney’s perception of the ambition of Man Utd, but now Ferguson has said, "Look son, I’ve won 30 titles here, don’t question my ambition", then Rooney has seen sense.
And if you believe that you’ll believe anything

Had a feeling he would stay though – said it from day one.
