September 18, 2023 at 19:39 #1663566September 18, 2023 at 20:34 #1663571Thanks for the update @CorkAllStar.
Investigations by special administrators brought in to assess WealthTek LLP discovered a black hole of £81.4m in the organisation’s books, while creditors are forecast to receive just 21p for every £1 owed to them.
This is not pretty.
I read elsewhere that the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has stated that some claims against the collapsed Newcastle company are likely to meet qualifying conditions for compensation (up to £85k).

September 21, 2023 at 19:05 #1663903Non-payment of funds to racing club members alleged to be behind decision to block John Dance horses from running.
The concerns are understood to relate to the sale of Sacred Angel by the Titanium Racing Club to Kazakh owner-breeder Nurlan Bizakov in July, and the dissemination of any proceeds to those involved in the club.
The rest is behind a paywall.
September 26, 2023 at 14:08 #1664514Interesting article in the Guardian.
“James Horton, who trained all but a handful of the horses concerned at a yard in Middleham, has since quit his role as Dance’s private trainer and announced that he will move his operation to Newmarket next year.”
“[It] is worth recalling that Ralph Beckett, a leading player in the National Trainers’ Federation, said back in April that “rumours were swirling for a while [about Dance] and had been for some years. Training debts and so on, so it’s not a surprise.”
September 26, 2023 at 20:14 #1664543September 26, 2023 at 20:41 #1664548Didn’t have much choice but to quit the product wasn’t viable anymore.
The more I know the less I understand.

WealthTek LLP, the company of prominent owner John Dance that was shut down in April following the discovery of “serious regulatory and operational issues”, was run with a “significant” shortfall in client assets for a “prolonged period of time”, according to administrators.
December 18, 2024 at 20:38 #1715667The latest on this story:
“Dance, 50, has been charged with nine criminal offences in what the FCA described on Wednesday as “one of the most serious and largest frauds we have ever investigated.”
