Sorry Drone, not going to consent to Spiked using my data.

    Can you summarise?

In 20 years, I’ve yet to have an issue with gamble – for me, there’s an innate, enduring, gentle, whimsy to even his most mischievous postings which makes it impossible for me to take offence at anything he ever writes.

Maybe one day he will (unpleasantly) surprise me.

You are quite intense Ginge !
Basically a history of vaccination and refuseniks from Smallpox vax 1850’s to present day MMR. British Government back in the 19th century made it compulsory for infants to be vaccinated against smallpox – killed hundreds of milions.
Stated that antivaxxers were a very small minority and had little effect on vaccine rollout. Important were the hesitants. 80% changed their mind and took the vaccine.

ID, you fail to mention that in those twenty years you’ve had very little social intercourse with him. Not so long ago, in that thread where he thought I’d created your account   you were calling him dumb. Also, when I mentioned that he was clocking on a bit, you said that you thought he wasn’t very old at all. You hardly know the geezer and had no regard for him till he started, inexplicably, to big you up (nap)

Social intercourse is a strange way to describe physical contact. I have got to know there is only one Ian Davies through his many writings over two decades. I have never met him. There are few I have met in here but there again I am not that accessible. When you state that Ian Davies had no regard for me you have misinterpreted his flippancy into a clone enquiry. You really need to lighten up Tank – this is a place to chill out remember !

Personally don’t think I’ve had any “issues” with gamble either, Ian. In fact I probably get on better with him than Tank or Ricky tbh. But whenever I believe someone has written something wrong in any post I’ll say. No matter who is involved. :rose:

You don’t need to meet someone to have social intercourse with them, gamble.

I seem to spend some of my time on here trying to educate people.; this makes me cross, as it’s an unpaid job!

I suspect one of the principal reasons why gamble and I seem to get along is that, deep down, we are both actually comfortable with who we are and, from those respectively impregnable positions, don’t take anything we either say to each other, or is said back to us, either to heart or always 100% seriously.

Tank, I’m not sure “educate” is the right word to use.

The one thing I’d took from Drone’s post is that it was the Church which objected to past vaccinations in the 19th Century, who are anti science. Maybe that’s the root of anti vaxx.

“But whenever I believe someone has written something wrong in any post I’ll say. No matter who is involved.”

No issues with that meritocratic – hence laudable – approach, GT.

The forum would be boring (and pointless) if you didn’t.

“Sorry Drone, not going to consent to Spiked using my data”

What are you on about Gingerflake? Read it then clear cache and cookies if you’re bothered about a bunch of marxists-cum-libertarians nicking your identity

Spiked, though too often contrarian for the sake of being contrarion, is a useful counter to the zeitgeist and received wisdom: that article I found interesting and the point of posting links is that it saves the poster from bashing the keys

FWIW I largely agree with your posts on this thread but as Covid debates have descended into immovable objects meeting irresistable forces bouncing back and forth between rocks and hard places I now keep my own counsel; though do so enjoy all the circuitous banter you lot provide :good: :negative:

I like spiked, particularly the weekly podcast – but it does seem a little ironic for a site which is a self styled champion of free speech to only allow you to comment if you pay them.

This was Tank’s post on a wrong thread:

“I can just imagine how much Shirl is going to enjoy all the long winter nights :yahoo:

A little bit naughty of me, Ginge, but you did call me an idiot re the Covid bollox. So we’ll call it quits.

You are a good man, IMO, but please try to understand that not everybody wants or needs, in our collective opinion, a vaccine.

My Body My Choice. Very easy to understand. If I was getting the multiple jabs and was happy with it, I would never insult those who chose not to. I would respect their choice of not wanting a state injectable. Their Body Their Choice”.

    Now me replying to Tank:

I do understand that not everybody wants to be vaccinated which yes is your / their choice.
However, fact is they / you are at a greater risk of both getting and passing on covid.
You may not even know you have covid…

… And yet you said, “I bet 90% of the people in supermarkets will be back to using masks by tomorrow. People are so easily spooked”.

So you’re unvaccinated and yet still will not wear a mask.
Anyone walking around a supermarket (or anywhere else indoors close to other people) who is both unvaccinated and without a mask is an idiot. He /she is irresponsible.

I repeat, it is and should be your choice whether to get vaccinated, yes your body your choice and I respect that choice. But please don’t deliberately act in such a way to put others (who have not made the same decision as you) at greater risk. You want me / people to “respect” your decision, and yet you’re showing such a lack of respect as to put people with a different opinion than you at a greater risk of dying.

So when going to public indoor places please please please wear a mask.

Your unvaccinated friend is roughly 20 times more likely to give you COVID

Google the article if you like – I am fully masked and travelling west in an underground carriage : 7/12 are masked.

I await Tanks response to your points Ginger he ducked the last two – I was to post something along the same lines as you and you saved me the effort.

    Good article gamble. :good:

Unvaccinated people keep on saying it is possible to contract covid from a vaccinated person, so what’s the point?…

…If two vaccinated people meet they are 200 times less likely to give the other person covid than if two unvaccinated people meet..

    Says it all really.
