Hospitals are not going to be overwhelmed. They managed last winter in a population where hardly anyone was vaccinated.
All the talk about hospital admissions never mentions how long the admissions are for and how many are in ICUs. And they never mention how many people are discharged each day, or discharged on the same day.
There is no justification for any of the measures Johnson announced yesterday. But it helps to keep the state of fear going.

But it was NOT the right thing to do, by any objective standard. Study after study has shown that the harm outweighed the benefit. Governments KNOW this but persist with this failed policy.
This sort of sums it up:

I wasn’t entirely serious CAS, it is only a very small possibility.
But why would any democratic government / leader want a “state of fear”?

A very good question. I could give my opinion but it would take us well off topic and it is probably best to not go there because I will be labelled as a “conspiracy theorist”.
Then again, anyone who said this time last year there would be vaccine passports in the UK and European countries would be making vaccination mandatory would have been labelled as such.

QAnon?
Value Is EverythingDecember 9, 2021 at 12:15 #1571456The hospitals managed last year by not treating people with cancer ( or not diagnosing new ones), not doing routine operations, knees, hips etc etc. They are as much collateral damage as the people having mental health problems due to lockdowns. Until covid is managed in such a way as it doesn’t disrupt the whole health service, life will never get back to normal. If we care about people around us we have to get vaccinated. I don’t listen to this government who I don’t trust in any way ( the worst, most incompetent and corrupt in living memory) but sometimes what they say, what the scientists say and my own common sense says forms a perfect alignment. I don’t trust Big Pharma either, I might add and question why non profit making vaccines/ therapeutics are being discredited. Especially as one of the governments chief medical advisors has shares in Pfizer. But I can only have the vaccine that’s offered to me so I have to go along with it. Doesn’t mean I can’t query it and write letters about it, though.
