Can anybody out there recommend the better sites for wagering on US racing?
With regard to the UK bookies, (Ladbrokes, et al), that accept bets on US racing, does this stake money go into the US pools or do the UK operators run their own thing?
Thanks in advance for advice.

are the big ones. The National Steeplechase Association launched http://www.jump2bet.com last fall, which I highly recommend.March 3, 2010 at 20:13 #280301Thanks Miss Woodford.
I presume that UK residents would have no problem opening an account with these operators?

March 3, 2010 at 21:01 #280309Stakes on U.S. racing placed with Ladbrokes are transferred into the Tote pool at the relevant track.
Bets with Ladbrokes and PaddyPower are settled to the Win pool. (PaddyPower offer a Place betting option which is settled to the "Show" pool in races with a minimum of eight runners.) I have no experience of placing U.S. bets with any other Bookmaker other than these.May I ask, why do you not consider Betfair for your U.S. punts? The prices at the "Off" are consistently better than Tote returns even with a 5% commission factored in.
March 4, 2010 at 05:57 #280344On the odd occasion I’ve looked at the US markets on Betfair, there didn’t seem to be a great deal of liquidity. Watching the earlier Tampa races last night, only a couple of minutes before the off, there had been no money matched at all.
Or am I missing something?
I’ve never been a great one for market-watching, preferring to put my bets on a good few hours before the race.
March 4, 2010 at 07:22 #280347I occasionally bet on the US racing and agree that their is not enough liquidity on Betfair to do this via the betting exchange route.
However having said that I do use Betfair to bet straight into the US pools. Its as easy as using the UK tote and they offer all the markets. Not only win place and show, but things like the Pick 6 as well.

Aaaah yes, fair enough. In such circumstances Betfair is not feasible.
Around 1 minute before the Off the average "Amount Traded" will, I always find, average at around £30,000 with a certainty that the best price available on any given horse will outshine the Win pool dividend.
(Although how much of that "Amount Traded" figure might be traders money swinging back-and-forth is anybody’s guess!)
March 4, 2010 at 12:19 #280374You can bet directly into the tote pools through betfair these days. Click on racing in USA, then tote USA.
