Agreed on that Ginger, it’s very likely to be Harris. I’ve had a
very good weekend so I thought I’d pitch her in for a bit of fun.
I think Mrs O would be more popular with the people, but Harris
has had her shoulder to the wheel and it’s unlikely she won’t
get her day in the sun.July 22, 2024 at 15:27 #1702469What does “across all the detail” actually mean?
To be on top of one’s brief
HTH
July 23, 2024 at 19:09 #1702514Harris’s odds to win the Presidency continue to shorten. Yesterday 5/2, now less than 7/4.
Value Is EverythingAugust 8, 2024 at 15:28 #1704197Harris now (very) slight favourite. Long way to go but at least we can hope now
August 11, 2024 at 07:59 #1704446She’s being helped by the recent rambling irrelevant speeches of Trump , it would be apt if after Biden having to stand down Trump ends up losing because of his performance in the head to head debates
August 11, 2024 at 08:03 #1704447“rambling irrelevant speeches of Trump”
Is this a new thing?
August 11, 2024 at 08:09 #1704448No but he’s been even more vague and stuttery in the last few days , mixing people up , it’ll be interesting to see
If does struggle in the debate how Harris reacts …does she attack itAugust 13, 2024 at 07:56 #1704552What head to head debate, Trump always seems to back off that. As for his rambling it’s a belief that he has dementia. Confusing fiction with reality is one sign.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.October 17, 2024 at 14:20 #1710034Betting still tight, but momentum seems to be with Trump. Really the USA has already lost; that so many would vote for him after what happened on Jan 6 is inexplicable (imagine if the crowd had been African-Americans or Muslims), and a stain that will never be removed.
October 17, 2024 at 15:42 #1710038The Democrats just havent learnt from their defeat in 2016.
Still sucking up to Wall Street and their Metropolitan base, and ignoring some of their more traditional voter base in the industrial areas/states.Trump could possibly triumph now, whereas 2 months ago, Harris & co looked odds-on.
October 17, 2024 at 17:42 #1710039‘Really the USA has already lost’
I can’t wait for this ridiculous circus to be over. I just wish it didn’t affect us.
If Harris wins, it’s bad news for the USA. There would be a lot of violence from Trump supporters, as you say we’ve already seen what happens and it’ll make that look like a minor skirmish IMO.
If Trump wins, its even worse news for the USA but also very bad news the rest of us.
Don’t know how we let that f’ed up country get so much power and influence over the world.

Erm…..where have u been for last 80 years?
USA GDP $25.4trn
Germany $3.9trn
UK $2.7trnOctober 17, 2024 at 18:21 #1710041Well yes, obviously it happens over time and they have loads of money. I thought that was a given.
Can’t stand the place personally. They churn out a few decent films and TV shows but beyond that I have no interest.
October 17, 2024 at 20:13 #1710049Only been to the ‘usual’ places in the US, namely Vegas (3 times early noughties), New York and Florida with the kids 23 years ago.
To be fair, the Americans we’ve chatted to/engaged with, have been fine. I know it’s not necessarily representative but that’s our experience. Also bumped into a few in the Caribbean, Aruba and Mexico. The Weekend Spring Break crowd are a bit of a pain, but if you can manage to engage with a few, after dinner, who arent completely wasted, they seem just fine.
October 17, 2024 at 20:42 #1710052In N Ireland we had our very own populist equivalent to Trump. Ian Paisley sold fear, and to sell fear you have to first make people scared, and more than any other person he was responsible for the atrocities of the Troubles.
But Paisley’s appeal was more understandable; he was handsome, informed, articulate, a compelling speaker, could be charming when it suited him, and had an impeccable home life. Trump, by contrast……October 17, 2024 at 21:23 #1710058Nothing against Americans on a personal level, I’ll give anyone a fair crack of the whip one to one. Met plenty on my travels and like any other nationality they’re mostly fine. Just the place as a whole holds zero appeal.
Wonder how long Trump will last if he does win. Long odds on that he doesn’t see out his term in my book. And that’s not code for assassination, I simply don’t believe he’s mentally capable of the job. They can’t hide that forever.
October 18, 2024 at 00:41 #1710069I’ve spoken to several Americans over the past few years who have said that Trump has split families in the way that Brexit did here. And recently spoke to an American lady who lives in the UK who didn’t want to visit her family because she was so worried about what was going to be happening there over the coming months.
