Can anyone remember the publication that came out towards the end of the week that covered the weekend racing. Which had within a sealed paper pouch / envelope containing a tip.
Thank you.September 6, 2022 at 22:33 #1613604The Racing & Football Outlook “Week-End Special” – I was once the Editor of both titles.

Weekend special, that was it.
How long did it run.September 7, 2022 at 01:01 #1613622About eighteen inches.

I was at the title 1984-1988 and was Editor of it IIRC 1987-1988.
But sales of all print titles diminished – as Editor I replaced the Racing Specialist (excellent IMO and in some ways best of the trio but never lucrative) with a premium rate tipping line we advertised in house – and while it continued after I left to join the Racing Post it was eventually discontinued.
A consortium led by Hugh Joseph and Richard Williams bought the RFO from IPC who in turn had bought it off Websters. but it eventually ended up owned by the Racing Post stable.

An avatar never lies.
My memory of it is possibly wrong. I remember a thinnish copy to start costing 50p and then getting thicker and the price might have crept up to £1.50 in order possibly to fund luxury Huntley & Palmers at HQ.
I never bought a copy but leafed through it in a vertical secret agent pose, as I remember. I liked the colouring; black with a nice splash of green which I suppose would represent courses and pitches It was a bit of a mish mash – neither this nor that, but some articles got my wandering eye’s attention.
The green Outlook sadly went the same way as the green machine, and the Green Hornet – Ya HAA !!!, but luckily – to tell his tale – we are left with our very own sparkling and pristine copy of Mr Green. One Bronx asshole to another.
Our bodies above have been driving all of eighteen hours, no toilet breaks, and my Y fronts have gone huffy and won’t talk to me. It’s dark as night in here, and I’m itching to know where the hell we are ?
Itching is spot on bruv, but pretty sure we’ve just entered Des Moines.
What would lead you to that conclusion asshole ?
It’s a shitty ol’ town – can’t you smell it, asshole ?

If it’s the copy where I tipped Aonoch @ 16/1 to turn over See You Then at Aintree, I’d be glad to.
But if it’s the copy where I tipped Wayward Lad @ 12/1 to beat that weight-receiving bitch Dawn Run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, as you can tell I’m still not “quite” over it 36 years later – ask me again in 2058!
