Carried 10pds less Mike and 1.9secs better. Still a very good performance, really like him too. To me he looks like he’ll be a better horse in the long run than the fav here, but maybe not next month.

Thought that was great run from Quilixios especially considering how long he had not run for.

I read somewhere that Jack Kennedy had said Zanahiyr maybe the faster horse after his last win but at double the price I think I’ll have a bet on Quilixios NRNB.

Lydia Hislop and Ruby Walsh on RTV tonight speculated that Zanahiyr may run in the Supreme. They wondered if Elliot might not want to run both in the same race but if he splits them up it will have to be Quilixios in the Triumph because he is not a novice and is ineligible for the Supreme.

I personally suspect both Zanahiyr and Quilixios will both end up running here (all being well).

I saw RTC with Lydia and Ruby tonight but equally Gordie seemed to suggest that Zanahiyr is the better of the two and seemingly is fairly destined for the Triumph. That was his interview on RTV after Quilixios’ win at the DRF. I am sure someone more intelligent than me will be able to post the interview, or at least quotes.

Also, obviously the stats for 4yo’s in the Supreme arent great. The last 4yo to win the opener was in 1999 under the great combo of AP and Martin Pipe (Hors La Loi III).

Throw in the fact that Noel and Valerie Moran are relatively new to the ownership game and have already shed out a large sum on horses, I suspect they would be keen to get their first winner at Cheltenham. It could of course be in the Supreme but you’d think the Triumph would be the slightly easier of the two.

As always nothing is set in stone but Triumph would be where I’d send him if he were mine.

Found it….there was a bit more than this where they talk about which one Jack would ride etc. Guess we will find out soon enough what happens with both horses haha

I tend to agree that Zanahiyr will go to the Triumph but just put what Hislop and Walsh said out there in case anyone had not heard.

I reckon Elliot would only have been tempted by the Supreme if it looked an open, substandard renewal – but Appreciate It looks a strong favourite. Elliot also has Ballyadam to run against him and there was more encouragement in his performance last Sunday.

It doesn’t matter if just one of them or both are running here……the winner is called Adagio! :yahoo:

Couldnt agree more Cork and certainly didnt mean to offend. I know a few who jumped on the Zanahiyr Supreme bandwagon following his entry but Gordon’s interview after the Quilixios race surprised me. Referenced Quilixios as a good ‘substitute’ etc. Perhaps i was reading too much into it but seemed to suggest both run here and that Zanahiyr was much the better. Hopefully its a cracker. Will never forget that 2020 race! The highs and lows of racing

Last years race will never be forgotten for me.
Sat in the usual gold cup day bar (ah the normal days) and my mate had thrown quite a few quid at Goshen who he fancied as his banker of the week.

I like Quilixios for this years renewal. Zanahiyr might work and look better but with a few front runners guaranteed I can see the additional stamina of Quilixios coming to the fore.
I do think his winning chance is half dependent on Davy getting to the fez fit and firing however.

Since my Palm Beach bet has crashed and burned I’ll try again with Tax for Max . It cost a bit for the double green to acquire him and he has a good rating on the Flat and should stay. This race then a Flat campaign was the plan, so I assume that’s why he wasn’t brought out earlier in the winter, to save him for the Flat a bit. He should have enough race experience from his time in Germany and I would have thought stamina would be no problem.

Apparently he was schooling on the Curragh recently so probably a reasonably serious entry- hoping to see him at Fairyhouse this weekend and do a Burning Victory (only with better hurdling!)

I should have known all was not going to go well when Tax for Max was down to run in a hood first time out for the stable. What a hateful ride, looked like a dirty ignorant little Shetland pony trying to make its child rider cry.

Absolutely delighted with that from tritonic

Improved enormously for his debut and better ground

Was still green so expecting more improvement with experience and a more galloping track

    Goes there with every chance

Good interview with Alan King there. Tritonic is a good strong looking horse, hopefully make a good race :good:

Tritonic was highly impressive off a very fast pace, BUT Paso Doble will be a lot nearer to him if he runs in the Triumph. He made good headway from nowhere and was never ridden very hard either. Interesting to see what they target at Cheltenham
