Very difficult to separate 4 or 5 at this stage. Have to love Sussex ranger lto who gave 100% when I was expecting him not to travel a yard in that ground, jumped very well also.
Stormy Ireland could be a machine but could also be a muck lover
Those 2 are my focus at the moment
January 15, 2018 at 19:35 #1337584Mullins purring about Stormy Ireland when Kevin Blake asked about her this morning based on the ATR piece. Looking forward to seeing her at Leopardstown.
January 16, 2018 at 15:43 #1337674I did We Have A Dream for this. After his first run I had pencilled him in as a hurdler who could reach 150 at Cheltenham. I can’t see past him really.
Redicean received a new rating of 137 for his latest win and that’s decent. I just feel We Have A Dream has the strongest current form and his official rating is now 145. Defi Du Seuil was on 143 at the same third race of his career.
We Have A Dream has won on good and heavy ground, which is a bonus. He’s also won a Grade 1 now.
Apples Shakira was 1/10 last time in a lesser race which told us little. She beat Eragon De Chanay 22 lengths previously, when that one was third but We Have A Dream pasted the same horse by 41 lengths when they clashed.
I feel Apples Shakira is poor value myself. She needs to step up a good bit to warrant being half the odds of We Have A Dream.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 16, 2018 at 16:42 #1337683Stormy Ireland
Out of all the horses that were covered on his stable tour the other day, it was her that he got most excited about. She really could be anything. When a horse wins by such a margin you of course have to attribute some of it to the ground, but that can lead to people actually undervaluing the form too. Her form in France isn’t anything to dismiss either.
January 16, 2018 at 17:54 #1337689I’d like to see how Stormy Ireland gets on when encountering good ground. She hasn’t been on anything but very soft and heavy really.
That might be a big question mark if she arrived at Cheltenham unproven and the ground on the good side.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 16, 2018 at 21:23 #1337707I’m rather keen to see Sao make his British debut. Has already beaten We Have A Dream in France. Was double entered the other weekend but didn’t get a run. PN probably waiting for some nicer ground.
January 16, 2018 at 21:42 #1337708Good shout. It’s only the last few years where we’ve seen triumph winners appear before Xmas
January 16, 2018 at 23:20 #1337717I guess it depends on the mark he’s given.
January 16, 2018 at 23:39 #1337718An interesting sort for sure but although he’s beaten We Have A Dream, it was back last May and on very soft ground.
We Have A Dream has improved two stones since for a master with this sort of horse and has also shown he can go on a faster surface. It might be dangerous to assume Sao will tick those two boxes.
Nicholls described Sao as a “Big, strong horse ” and explained that he is closely related to Frodon. Maybe a more long term sort perhaps but certainly fascinating to see him when he starts. Worth watching.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
January 17, 2018 at 13:28 #1337766PFN likes the Fred Winter, wouldn’t surprise me if they gave him a run in the next three weeks and then head there.
January 17, 2018 at 14:32 #1337776Yeah, that’s why I referred to his mark. Same colours as Diego Du Charmil.
Nicholls going through his usual vaccination period with his horses so having a relatively quiet spell. Runs Sao in a decent hurdle so he doesn’t win but brings him on. Mark in the low to mid 130s. Fred Winter time.
February 19, 2018 at 10:50 #1343026Sao was disappointing in the end!
The way Elliot references Farclas in his Cheltenham column as a “shell of a horse” i will guess he will be next years Mengli Khan!

February 19, 2018 at 15:30 #1343052Anyone else get the feeling that apples Shakira might just trounce this lot and could be a bit special?
February 19, 2018 at 15:47 #1343055I don’t get that feeling at all. I think there is no real way of connecting her form to any of the top players on the Irish side. We just cant tell how good Mr Adjudicator and Farclas are compared to the English horses that Apples Shakira has beaten. In fairness, I think the prices reflect that unknown and if you do fancy her then 11/4 is a nice price for her.
Based on her rating, though, and with the addition of her Mares allowance, she has only 2L to find on Defi Du Seuil when he won it last year. There was nobody really on his level last year so the only question is how good are Mr. Adjudicator and Farclas?
February 20, 2018 at 10:17 #1343147Considering mullins said stormy ireland is his best juvenile and mr adjudicator is already a grade 1 winner, she will be off the same weight as AS, at the price i know wh id back (ive already backed stormy ireland @14/1) but even at the current price its a no brainer for me who id take
Theres also another few exciting prospects saldier looked above average for mullins, farclas a definite improver for elliot, sussex ranger will be better in the spring than he was, we have a dream although not to impressive LTO should inprove for better ground
Ill be laying apples shakira all day long against this field, way to short.
February 20, 2018 at 10:55 #1343152Did he say Stormy Ireland was his best Juvenile? Patrick was singing the praises of Mr. Adjudicator before Leopardstown and he was very bullish about his chances of beating Farclas and Espior D’allen
While I was very impressed with Stormy Ireland when she won that race by half the track you would like to see her run on better ground first. She could be a Bristol De Mai/Fabulous Saga/ Dortmund Park type of animal
