Different times, Ian. Everyone was more open and friendly, well nearly everyone.

Chit Chatin’ ain’t what it used to be.

    Do you remember Nick Hatton?

He was a really nice chap.

That name does ring a bell, but then the Hatton name is very familiar to me as my big sis married a Hatton.

I am going back about 12-15 years.

Can’t find any postings from him here after 2005, but I was friends with him for a few years after that until he seemed to disappear.

Very knowledgable and a really nice guy.

I seem to remember Nick posted under his own name Ian and any info on anyone over the age of ten in here is always of extreme interest to me.
As for friends Tank I try keep a sort of middle ground which allows me to bark or kiss.

When I first started posting (the fourth poster on Flutter – but would have preferred the fourth biggest earner aka Glen ) as a nobody anonymous gamble scribe I vowed to make no friends or enemies. It sort of worked for many many years but now my style has changed it possibly is wearing off, writing as I do from my small mobile phone and coping with some remnants of PTSD and the poison that still circulates within me.

As an old slightly reformed SPLASH writer I welcome other SPLASHMEN or WOMEN ( Jilly) and you certainly fit within that banner Tank. The oft outspoken Ian Davies also. I hope that answers your question. I quite enjoy being given a bit of a pasting and your old duffer posting thankfully survives.

I cannot write anymore on the TRF winners thread as someone has reported me. Apologies to whoever that was, and possibly referring to myself and the chief as Gods dogs or logs were the words that lit someone’s fuse.

It is looking a pretty miz day out there – but venture out I must – such is my lot.

I have corrected my ‘Al Jazeera’ on the other thread – may well have been it.

Not sure what you mean about answering my question? What question? Also, you may be getting confused about being on good terms- which is what I think I said- and being friends, they are two different things.

Used to enjoy a bit of banter with you, gamble, but you’re real hard work these days

I have always been interested in Snaith a town I knew nothing of, but gratefully now do, thanks to Lake’s regression. Badly affected by floods and home to the four engine Rolls Royce powered Lancasters which were very reactive in the skies for a bomber in the ol’ second world war.

I may also be regressing with age or this fly infested empty space results in too much navel gazing. It does seem a bit livelier of late though with a few new faces at the Inn.

Dating right back to 2001, I would describe banter with gamble as “challenging,” rather than “hard” work.

The gamble of old was challenging and entertaining – the lying, cheating, goading gamble that we have seen now is something quite different.

    But it was.

The doctor asked me what my favourite film was.

I tried not to lie and told him Psycho.

He asked me then why it was my favourite.

I didn’t like to tell him that my mother liked the film and so I lied and said

“Because 1960 was a very good year for the birds “
