I will try & make an effort to get to this. Could be stuck in London anyway what with tube strikes, snow etc.
Is it still on for the Tuesday ?
November 28, 2010 at 09:48 #330267Yes, we’ll definitely go with Tuesday now that a tube strike’s been confirmed for Monday.
From 7.30pm onwards here:
http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/ … Bloomsbury
I know one year the pub we’d arranged to meet up in was closed down. If for any reason the Bloomsbury Tavern is out of action we’ll meet across the road here:

Look forward to meeting you all.
November 30, 2010 at 14:33 #330543Well, the weather could have been kinder and one or two might be snowed in, but I’ll be there at least. I’ll probably bring a copy of the Racing Post to put on the table for anyone who doesn’t know what we look like.
At time of writing we have:
Probables: Myself, Silvoir, Irish Stamp, Colin Little
Possibles: Ricky Lake, Gamble, TDKNovember 30, 2010 at 14:55 #330544Looking forward to meeting everyone
November 30, 2010 at 15:10 #330550I’m a NR unfortunately. Wanted to come but am out about 5 days in the next week – don’t think my liver could stand it…
Have a good one….
November 30, 2010 at 16:27 #330561I will join knight in the dark.
It is brave men and few
that venture out on such a night.Thigh high boots and your own pitcher
are the recommended attire.Glenn no need for the racing post
just sit outside where you were before
stretch your neck occasionally upwards
and watch the street light
play it’s yellow colours
through the icicle
on the end of your nose.Watch out all,
if you hear faint footsteps
follow you when leave.
It wont be the bar girl
with your change.
NO, Sorry sirs
and if you were to catch sight
of part of a hairy hand,
clone warn others
and run for your lives.Enjoy the krone !

!Barry Dennis popping in for a swift one?
November 30, 2010 at 16:40 #330565Dennis alas,
does his best work
in a box.I give you
tight lipped
Bloomsbury
not the back
of Blackheath
or the lisp
on the moorNovember 30, 2010 at 17:21 #330573a delicious entree
nonetheless KingI am sure that Dennis
has missed his true vacation
and his time
being born out of era,
and should have seen
not only lottery scale Beechers
but shaken hands with Pitt
after his inaugural speech. The sprach cafes of Berlin
no discretion there
and the majestic music halls
of Blackpool would
have each rocked
their cement loose
and dropped their
cup ‘n gild
with his
booming voice raftering…highand no standing room
for clones !Getting back to topic
It’s an evil knightNovember 30, 2010 at 20:43 #330594I throw you a crumb
and you make a slice of bread
from it
everytime!
Master you inspire me to write poetry!
My last contribution was called "The Assassin"
my next could be "The Coward"!November 30, 2010 at 21:56 #330616The gravy boiled over
when I was ruminating your
post bingI suppose there is poetry
in everything if you look for it,
even the horse racing section
ebbs and flows at times like rap
aka the old Cochrane thread
where it flew into such a stage rage
it forced the fingers to tap.Did you ever read about a frog
who dreamed of being a king
and then became one
Well except for the names and
a few other changes the story
just aint the same oneI just hop
December 1, 2010 at 10:23 #330662I have to send my apologies for my non-attendance.
Having taken 2 1/2 hours (normally a 1 hour journey) to get to London Victoria I was advised that getting home after 9pm would be nigh on in possible so cut all losses as wouldn’t have made it to Shaftesbury Avenue until 8:30pm anyway.
Hope those who attended had a good night
December 1, 2010 at 12:38 #330674Wonder if it was just Glenn and silvoir who turned up then? Would have been an interesting conversation for sure!
With plenty of notice and if it wasn’t too far I would attempt to get to one of these….
December 1, 2010 at 13:02 #330679Just a three runner field this year, but a good night. Colin Little turned up to remind me of clones of christmas past.
December 1, 2010 at 13:27 #330682Certainly Zam you have highlighted
the two bankersI believe Ricky Lake
will have succumbed to a blanket
…of snow.Little may have changed
(his mind)I will try and make an effort to get to this.
Little could be stuck in Londinium anyway
What with tube strikes, snow and the advancing
army of Budicca causing limb pile ups.is it still on for Brewsday ?
I had him down at 7/1
Good effort on behalf of Irish Stamp.
Please keep your train receipts Stamp,
they will be good for a free round
if you show then to Glenn,
now nursing a big EE,
next time round.Glenn mentioned a previous pub closure.
Too much advance warning was then given and
clones got in a week early practising their
subterfuge and unruly leg tripping
and belching at the bar.
They are notoriously rude and the manager
having rued his decision to refuse them drinks
was forced to close the establishment down
for a two week krone break
This foiled the gang who were
forced back to pavement tennants.December 1, 2010 at 20:48 #330743Happy baa day to you
the inimitable man in gray.Thanking you kindly, Friendsheep. As baa days go, I’ve certainly had worse.
Looks like any hope of communal Forumite drinkage anywhere in the Ainsty has gone for a burton (and no port on the menu, either!) this week, as there are now no ways other than Dorothy’s red shoes to get out of town… and they didn’t make them in my size. Suspect some other of you may be similarly toiling.
Week beginning December 13th you suggested, Drone? More do-able as things stand. Might be worth starting a new thread if this is to be a goer, lest this one be lost as the London shindig fades from memory.

December 1, 2010 at 22:46 #330770In order to borrow the shoes, would one need to be a friend of Dorothy?
