June 14, 2010 at 20:53 #300597Easy one: Which Britsh born European Cup winner ( a footballer ) also participated for GB in The Olympic Games ?
Ronnie Simpson – 1948 Olympics 1967 European Cup (Celtic)
Easy?
Intensive googling and wikiling was requiredApologies if recourse to the all-knowing net is against the spirit of the quiz

Ker-ching; we have a winner !
Well done Drone – a marvellous piece of detective work.
Yes, teenage goalkeeper, Ronnie Simpson, who played with Glasgow senior amateur team, Queen’s Park at the time, was selected by GB football Olympic team manager, Matt Busby for the London games. Simpson later joined Newcastle United, Hibs and Celtic.

That’s it WitJune 15, 2010 at 22:34 #300984in which year was the Prince of Wales Stakes at Ascot last run as a Group 3, and indeed left-handed?
June 16, 2010 at 10:53 #301070Your unnecessary use of the word Ascot has me smelling a rat. There is an Ascot racecourse in Perth, Australia, but I ain’t yet ascertained which direction they race, nor whether they have a Prince of Wales race.
June 16, 2010 at 10:59 #301072Prince Of Wales Stakes is run left-handed in Canada, but that is at Fort Erie.

Name any horse that has won both the Coventry Stakes and Derby.
June 16, 2010 at 12:02 #301099well done.
you may have seen that the other racecourse in Perth (AUS) is called Belmont Park.

Generous……erm…..went close!
June 16, 2010 at 16:41 #301200When I looked at the list of Coventry winners after setting the question, there were four Derby winners I recognised straightaway, and there may be a couple of others as well.
