I don’t know if Nathan will allow this, but I thought that if it’s good enough for SPOTY and AP, it’s good enough for us.
January 1, 2016 at 10:20 #1227862Good idea Joe, if you can edit your thread title to nominations we can get started or start a new nominations thread.
I’m off out to Exeter races so cannot set anything up at the moment but anyone feel free to start up a nominations thread.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 1, 2016 at 18:03 #1227914Thanks, Nathan. It’s not allowing me to edit the thread title, but maybe we can just run with it as it stands.
The reason I suggested it was that I though Corm deserved ‘recognition’. I know he’s kept the site going for a long time (just how long, I don’t know) under pretty trying circumstances at times. It’s never easy to get things right, and when you do, people tend not to notice. It’s only when they go wrong that we all kick off (myself included!).
I know Matron puts in considerable work too, and I’m sure there are other unsung heroes. But my nomination goes to David, for founding it and, more importantly keeping it going so long through thick and thin, or should I say through firm to heavy :)
January 1, 2016 at 18:10 #1227915I’d also like to nominate David for keeping this forum going through some tricky changes and also thank Matron for all her advice on technical matters etc and keeping everyone in order.
You always know he’s just an email away if there are any problems and however busy he is you know he will be on the case straight away with advice and a possible solution. Also he’s put up some interesting competitions with great prizes over the years…thank you David

January 2, 2016 at 09:26 #1228054I’ll give David some competition and nominate The Ante Post King
Before the days that the internet occupied my time I would come home from work and go straight to c4 teletext and read the horse racing messages sent in by people, one of those whose a certain Gord from Ripley, I never sent in a post myself but would often argue with the opinions, must of looked a dick shouting at teletext. Gord was a legend on there tipping Duke of Marmalade for great things before he could run proper. When the service went bust I was gutted and decided to go into the unknown and try online to find something similar to read when I stumbled upon this place and never looked back, I read this place everyday it’s like a religion and Gord was a big part in myself finding this place. TAPK soon joined and continued his fine work of modest genius.
His legendary posts won him the poster of the year and his tipping threads hugely popular.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 2, 2016 at 11:38 #1228105I am actually male – my real name is Robin.
Matron was a nickname I was given years ago.
Ooops sorry Matron (Robin) I wasn’t around on TRF then…I’ve been watching too many Carry On Films over Christmas…blush
note to myself for 2016
Must get out more
Happy New Year Matron
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 2, 2016 at 12:17 #1228119Happy New Year to you as well Jac.
No need to apologise whatsoever – it is strange nickname to be given to a male person.

Pissing myself here in the heart of Derbys sipping a 20yo Port with a Mince Pie.Very kind of you to nominate me but the title of this worthy thread has only one mans name on it and thats ‘Dangerous Dave Cormack’.If it wasn’t for him allowing me on here in the first place I would have never became the Legend I am now.Of course had the Title of this thread been called ‘Legend of the forum’ then I would agree with you.No point in that as we all know I am that man.
No on a serious note again had it not been for Dave I would never have met 4 of the best guys I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in Yourself Nath,Joni,Ginge and most recently Gary GDC,all of which share a passion for a sport we love, all of whom add their own style to this place too.I’d love to meet others on here like Bobby VTC,Joe Steeplechasing, the 2 birds Moe and Trip and of course the great man himself,Corm.TRF is something I have almost become attached to as an every day part of my routine and I’m grateful for it.I wish that we all could show Dave our appreciation for what he has given us by organising a mighty TRF get together, that would be some night, maybe the Ritz in London?January 2, 2016 at 12:29 #1228129I bet you still have those pink ‘Exotic Dancing’ shoes, Gord.
I’ve got myself a pair of light blue ones with an Orange star ready for when UDS wins the Champion, I will wear them Un De dancefloor……

January 3, 2016 at 15:56 #1228248My nomination would go to a guy whose contribution to TRF predates my own and who has, week after week for many, many years, single-handedly kept the forum’s most popular competition afloat. I know how time consuming it is doing the scoring for that comp as I’ve done a couple small stints when Bob has been unavailable (which has been very, very infrequently) so all us who’ve enjoyed the Bob Rolf 4PP over the years are indebted to him.
Bob Rolf for me would be a fitting inaugural TRF lifetime achievement winner, that or a posthumous award to the memory of Daylight.
January 6, 2016 at 09:44 #1228573I’ll give till Saturday for any more nominations.

January 8, 2016 at 20:36 #1228862A twitter correspondent is upset that I did not mention the late Daylight. I’ve explained that I did not know Daylight and wasn’t around here when the forum started. I invited the correspondent to make his own post here, but he declined.
David mentioned Daylight in his contribution.
Anyway, I thought it worth mentioning.
January 8, 2016 at 22:28 #1228902I don’t see how your post could of upset anyone Joe,
like you say nothing stopping the correspondent from coming on here and nominating, unless of course they are banned or may have a grudge.
either that all they are very sensitive.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 10, 2016 at 17:10 #1229160Didn’t see this thread but would have nominated VTC for efforts which are worthy of an OBE for services to Internet forums.
