Drone mentioned about the Lifetime achievement award on another thread, the last one was 5 years ago so as good a time as any to do the next

Nominations on this threadI’d like to nominate Billion who sadly passed away in December
the system section of the forum can be quiet but anyone who visited it over the past 10 years or so would have seen billions work on there.

Billion is certainly deserving of this exceptional and rarely won silverware. My gut reaction is to nominate you Nathan as Huey always makes the news on here and you have done it with gusto for many years. BH is another that springs immediately to mind as the biggest improver and lastly the Man in black Davies who has created more threads on here over the years than the Vicar’s knickers.

If this is to be a serious contest – all votes need to be transparent. Too easy to rig votes on here and that would never do. I for one would not be taking part in it if we couldn’t see who had voted for who.
We need to have a fair fight on something as important as this. So, if the voting can be as transparent as this obvious set-up.. that would be great

Tomorrow I think is the 12th day of Chrsitmas ( I think counting from the 25th ) It’s a time traditionally to take the tree down ( although mine will stay up this whole week ) Its a time people also start weighing themselves again and start occupying themselves again in some sort of activity and for a lot – forgetting the Xmas spirit of love and kindness and goodwill.
David Cormack very deservedly won the lifetime achievement award five years ago. Looking back I notice that Daylight was also on that list. Both admins to date have done a good job in containing the rebrobates – people like me – splash posters and those that write against the grain and keeping this place in some sort of respectful order.
I do think this containment has gone too far though and the forum, excellent in its racing platform, has suffered in other areas and all the hard hitters have packed their boots or been quietly dispatched in back alleys.
For this reason and in the spirit of Xmas I an putting both admins past and present in room 101 or on the Apathy list (lounge) but not forever – they can both crawl out – hopefully chastened – in a day or so. Don’t you all love a Xmas Carol ?
Happy New Year shipithollabolla but I might warn you any vote for me is a vote for the Ghost of Xmas past as my neck is on the line.
My view on this is that Daylight should be given an honorary lifetime achievement award and not suffer the ignomy of possibly looking up to the pedestel once more.
This does beg the corollary of whether a Razzie lifetime award might also be on the menu and only one name seems to fit ( Oh come all Ye Unfaithfull )
There’s a couple of late entrants to my room 101 to keep the first two company – the second keymaster our very own Matron and the second Ghost of Xmas past the one and only LRM ( Debs )

P.s As for my slim neck chances – well…Spartacus and his ragbag army of rebrobates never actually reached the gates of Rome – they were just short – but apparently its the journey that counts.🥾 🥾….to the gallows.

Nathan, if this is to be a serious award, then I strongly recommend that newbies can’t nominate or vote in it. What would they know about the history of this forum? You need to be careful about people trying to manipulate the vote. I see that shipittolabolla is pretty much brand new and therefore should be ineligible to nominate or vote. I’m sure that someone else with nominate gamble – even though the old duffer seems to have lost his marbles
What about a cut-off point of,say, 30/9/2020. Anyone registered after that can’t nominate or vote? That would mean that even though they had only been a member for three months, at least they would know a bit about the people posting now and maybe looked in the archives. I know it’s a bit tricky to get the right cut-off point and that’s only a suggestion. If this is all just a bit of fun and doesn’t really matter who wins, then carry on as it is, but the winner could well be a false God, imo.Also, I would not allow nominees to vote for themselves – they can’t be worthy of an award like this if they would want to do that – by the very nature of!

Hard to take a poll seriously when people can have four or five accounts- and therefore four or five votes. I could open a few accounts right now, but I’m not sad enough to do that. I’m sure that there are people on here that would though and people who already have more than one account. It makes the whole thing pointless.
