Great to see so many entries for the competition with 39 entries.
I’ll put a link here in the first post to the Google doc with all the races – Races[/color:3cw87g4y][/url:3cw87g4y]
Well done to Breath of Fresh Ayr and quadrilla who both selected HTN (each-way) & Natagora (win) to score 18.70pts this weekend. However, that score was only good enough to dead-heat for second place as Danny tops the class for this week after selecting HTN on the nose (with a loser in the 1000 Guineas) for a total score of 20pts and puts him straight into the lead after week 1.
I’m sure the temptation to retire to stud now with a bit of black type is great but hopefully we will see more of Danny in the coming weeks.
Here’s the scores – Standings[/color:3cw87g4y][/url:3cw87g4y]
May 9, 2008 at 21:37 #162544Thanks for that DB – I’ll try to get some sponsorship and prizes sorted out for this comp soon.
May 11, 2008 at 11:15 #162735Is it possible to not have the results ‘hosted’ by Google, as I don’t fancy having to sign up for an account just to see them?
May 11, 2008 at 19:44 #162818no offence David, you do a great job with the competition’s but i do agree with what LetsGetRacing posted.

May 11, 2008 at 22:43 #162859No problem – I didn’t realise that you needed an account to view it.
I’ll post results as normal tomorrow.
May 12, 2008 at 10:03 #162911Not a great weekend for those who actually posted selections with not one entrant showing a profit. 15 people selected Zarkava in the "Pouliches" to go with their loser in the "Poulains" so they all only lost 1.40pts on the day. Nathan Hughes was actually the only entrant to not lose all 2pts on the "Poulains" with Rio De La Plata each-way but he lost his 2pts on the "Pouliches" with Modern Look (also each-way) and so lost 2.30pts overall for his efforts. So its congratulations to the 17 entrants who DIDN’T post a selection for yesterday as they made ground on the rest!
A special mention should go to a new member blacker who tried to sneak a 3pt win on Zarkava for an extra 0.3pts and this in only his 2nd ever post on the forum. I have my eye on you Sir!
In the overall, Zarkava’s win has pushed Breath Of Fresh Ayr and quadrilla into joint top while Danny has slipped back to 3rd with 2 losers. Adrian (3.50pts), Grey Desire (2.10pts), & mickeddy (2.10pts) are the only others to remain in profit at this early stage.
Next race is the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday 17-May

May 13, 2008 at 08:59 #163135David,
Is there a certain amount of races you have to post selections in to be eligible to win or can you just pick and choose whenever and whatever races you want?

Hi Jonny
Yes you must select in at least 30 races to qualify for any prizes which may become available. There are 54 races in total.
I have started a separate thread in this section with the details.
May 13, 2008 at 12:42 #163196Thanks David,
I was planning on not selecting any more after my start but I guess I’ll have to now!!
All the best
Jonny
May 21, 2008 at 08:30 #164629Creachadoir proved a popular selection both on course and here with 6 entrants backing him win only and another backing him each-way. Disappointing price though in the end as most would have expected him to go off bigger than the 3/1 SP (he was 13/2 when I posted my selection). Nathan Hughes also made a profit on the day with Tariq each-way.
In the overall, both Breath Of Fresh Ayr (23.20 pts) and Danny (22.00 pts)both selected the winner and have now opened a small gap over quadrilla in third place (15.30pts)

May 26, 2008 at 08:52 #165392Irish Guineas weekend results
3 races this weekend and 2 short-priced winners followed by a stable second string in Halfway To Heaven. Duke of Marmalade and Henrythenavigator were both popular selections with entrants while 4 people selected Halfway To Heaven (only 1 selected Kitty Matcham actually).Joint winners this week with non vintage and quadrilla both scoring 11.67pts with Duke Of Marmalade (win) and Halfway To Heaven (win) (they also both selected Now Now Now on Saturday as well)
In 3rd place was nefertiti with 10.97pts. Following 5 consecutive losers in the competition to-date, she won her Maiden in fine style this weekend with all 3 race winners. Going each-way on Halfway To Heaven cost her top spot however.
Grey Desire was the other entrant to select Halfway To Heaven (win only) but he scored 9 pts as his other 2 selections lost.
I should also mention Friggo who, along with nefertiti, was the only other entrant to score positively on all 3 races with Duke of Marmalade (win), Henrythenavigator (win) and Carribean Sunset (each-way)

Grey Desire (17.10pts) and non vintage (15.67pts) complete the top 5. mickeddy (4.77pts) is a further 10.9pts back in 6th spot with Friggo (4.17pts) just 0.30pts behind him. Results

May 26, 2008 at 16:10 #165450Indeed, thanks fo rthis David – another fine competition, even though it look likes I have the mother of all uphill struggles ahead of me to even end up in profit, never mind win.
May 26, 2008 at 16:18 #165453Thanks again, David.

Weren’t you in this sort of predicament early in the OoM comp as well, Corm? I hope it isn’t an omen towards history repeating itself- I was up there early on over the winter as well and ended up about 5th bottom!
