Thread of the year – VTC’s Ten To Follow
Flat Horse – The magnificent Captain Lars, who won 11 times in 2018. Whats even more remarkable is he’s only 4 lbs higher now than his first win of the 11 at Southwell last January. Bravo.
Jumps Horse – Paddy The Oscar – Still winning at 15 years young, lobbing round Chepstow like there was no tomorrow. Great stuff!

    Flat Trainer – John Gosden
    Jumps Trainer – Colin Tizzard
Hero – Anyone connected with the “FOBT cut to two quid campaign”.

Broadcaster – Nick Luck – Luck on Sunday is mostly superb.
One to Watch in 2019 – Rachel Blackmore
    Racecourse –
Journalist – Lee Mottershead – Had a strong year, growing into himself, more confident expressing his opinions in the RP.
Villain – Villain is probably too strong a word, but Kirkland Tellwright is never too far from the headlines is he?
Owner – Phillipa Cooper – I think I’m in love with her :rose:
Commentator – Simon Holt – Should be on ITV, currently the biggest travesty in racing that he’s not!

I won’t have opinions on some of these.

I don’t have RUK (too expensive) so some of the categories will be affected. I’m a tv racing person (plus many podcasts)

Poster of the Year – steeplechasing
Thread of the year – all the Big Race discussion threads are great.
    Flat Horse – I don’t know
    Jumps Horse – Tiger Roll
    Flat Jockey – I don’t know
    Jumps Jockey – Bryony
    Flat Trainer – I don’t know
Jumps Trainer – Tie between Ruth Jefferson and Kayley Woollacott.
    Hero – Pete the Feat
Riding Performance – Recency bias, but Jamie Moore on Baron Alco in the BetVictor Gold Cup was brilliant, caused panic amongst the ranks with bold pace.
Broadcaster – Millington on the RP podcast always entertains me
One to Watch in 2019 – no idea
    Racecourse – Cheltenham
Journalist – I don’t know enough to answer
Villain – Ricci will win this forever for denying us Vautour in the Gold Cup
Owner – Everyone who takes on Ricci, Giggs, McManus etc
Commentator – I like Hoiles, sorry if that’s not a fashionable statement.

Moment of the Year: Buywise winning the Veterans Final at Sandown.

Flat Trainer – My vote will probably go for Johnny G, with so many of the top horses; Roaring Lion, Stradivarius, Enable, Cracksman etc. But as he’s already been nominated, I’ll nominate Charlie Appleby – Hopefully a breakthrough year for him. Derby, Melbourne Cup etc.

Flat Jockey is between two for me:
Oisin Murphy: Improved a good deal and played a big part in Roaring Lion’s success.
Ditto James Doyle with Sea Of Class.

Poster of the Year – So many that deserve recognition, but I’ve got to give it to Nathan this year for his
    all-round contribution

Thread of the year – 4PP & Daylight Cup….20 years and still a class act

Flat Horse – Alpha Centauri …. best miler by far, and her win in the Coronation Stakes had the hairs
on the back of my neck standing up. Such a shame she had to be retired.

Jumps Horse – Altior…… won his last 13 races, and never looked like being beaten last season. In a
    different class

Flat Jockey – Frankie Detori…. has nothing left to prove, but keeps doing it anyway

Jumps Jockey – Bryony Frost…… a breath of fresh air, and as good a judge of pace and front
    running that I’ve seen.
Flat Trainer – John Gosden …… How a trainer should be

Jumps Trainer – Dan Skelton …… Has had a great year

Hero – Bryan Cooper…. whose quick thinking and actions, having just fallen from his own horse,
potentially saved Robbie Power from serious injury at Gowran Park

Riding Performance …..Bryony Frost on Milansbar in the Betfred Classic at Warick, a great front
running performance on a horse that has been known to sulk and had been
pulled up in 3 and UR in 1 of it’s previous 6 races. It was a toss up between
that one and her performance on Frodon in the Old Roan Chase.

Broadcaster- Ed Chamberlin…He’s had a bit of flack, but in general I think he’s done a decent
job of keeping it together on ITV

One to Watch in 2019 -Great Field…. He’s had his problems, but when he’s clear of them I think
he could be the next big thing over the jumps.

Racecourse – Cheltenham…….Sorry to be boring, but it’s just the best.

Journalist – Chris McGrath…..I think, just nicks it

Villain – Parliamentary Group looking into FOBTs…..For accepting funding from those with a vested
    interest

Owner – Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha…… Will be greatly missed.

Commentator – Simon Holt…..I think that should be a walkover.

    Jumps Horse – Tiger Roll

    Flat Jockey

    Jumps Jockey – Davie Russell

    Flat Trainer

Jumps Trainer – Willie Mullins, for getting the title back against the odds.

Hero – Bryan Cooper for reason given by BigG

    Riding Performance

    Broadcaster – Gary O’Brien

One to Watch in 2019 – Malone Road

    Racecourse – Navan

    Journalist
    Villain
    Owner

Commentator – Richard Pugh who is a breath of fresh air.

I’d like to nominate raymo61 for poster of the year, seems a thoroughly decent chap and picks out some cracking big price winners.
