In my view trainers simply reflect the rest of the population. Some are devious , some simply spout BS , some court publicity and are clickbait , some have unreliable opinions etc.. Then there are those who talk sense , and others who are reliable.
If your judgement is good , and you can identify those in the latter 2 categories you will benefit from listening to their public quotes. The rest are best ignored , for whatever reason is relevant to them. Just like life really !.Sheepskin coat and jps fags , old Bedford tk horsebox in the yard , he,s been working nicely , one more then it’s payday , the boy knows to put him out the back and then find trouble , there’s a nothing race at Plumpton in 2 weeks , it’s perfect no one there and the stewards a friend of a friend ….have you got the money ready ?

I didn’t back it and it could probably be judged from form but…..

Start collating these trainer quote “gems” PRE-RACE, post them here and, when the winners start rolling in, you can do the “told ya so” dance!

I’m at the course and missed that but he beats himself up often as a trainer I’ve noticed which is a great indication of the high standards he sets

Jury still out on trainer quotes for me.
No end of trainers talk up their prospects beforehand and we only hear about the one who got it right (if any of them did) afterwards.

He didn’t talk up prospects clearly you didn’t even check
He correctly pointed out the horses strengths and added he probably lacked the class of the others
The strengths matched the conditions and how the race was quite likely to be run
Well of course I didn’t check, Clive – I don’t listen to these people, do I?
I just went off what you posted here, AFTER THE RACE.
And it is very easy to come on here aftertiming about what various trainers said beforehand.
There will be plenty of trainers who talked up their horses with the usual flannel and they all got beat.
But of course no one ever mentions those.
Cherry picking one time a trainer did get it right means nothing.
The day you start coming on here posting what you believe to be significant trainer quotes before the race, and enough of these horses go on to win to show a long-term profit, is the day I’ll start taking a blind bit of notice of this nonsense.
Until then, it’s just aftertiming – had Prime Venture got beat there wouldn’t have been a peep out of you about this!

A decent punter looks back after the race and what they’ve missed and yes I missed this
