why won’t he stay? he’s already proven over 3m over hurdles.
March 19, 2006 at 20:55 #70103Monets will stay already a winner over 3 mile over hurdles so no doubt about the trip

March 19, 2006 at 22:19 #70104
This wins the Ian Davies Memorial Award for Outrageous Assertion Based On No Real Evidence inaugurated this time last year by the late Basingstoke Boy with his statement following the Gold Cup that Kicking King would have "creamed" Best Mate if both had run in last year’s race.
BEFECKINGJESUS. Compared to Ian Davies. {shudders violently}
I’m going to have a VERY long lie down.
{shudders once more for added dramatic effect}

March 19, 2006 at 22:32 #70105I have done Gus 20/1.
March 19, 2006 at 22:40 #70106By the way, (now my mock outrage has died down), with any luck next year we’ll be able to see if Trabolgan is as good as I thought he was.
He would have beaten WOA and Hedgehunter, given a good prgressive season. (and edit to add there is just a little evidence in the shape of the Hennessy)
Oh yes, nearly forgot – IMO :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin:

March 20, 2006 at 12:47 #70107It’s a damn shame that Trabolgan wasn’t in the race. He would have been my pick certainly, and I think a short priced fav.
WoA will NOT stay 3m on soft ground, and Hedgehunter in 2nd really deppreciates the form I feel, and am not convinced about Forget The Past. The only excuse I can make for BoS is that the ground didn’t suit one bit. His 4th in 2004 was on soft, and has done nothing in the other 3 years, so i’m praying for rain next year, cos he deserves it more than any other horse in training.
Don’t know how he does deserve it! He has had 4 goes, doesn’t travel or jump at speed…..
Big fan of both WoA and Trabologan, both can jump at speed and travel.
March 20, 2006 at 12:54 #70108Much as i love Monets, there is still that doubt whether he will be at his very best at cheltenham….
Having said thta, he hardly disgraced himself last time but the Trainers slight aversion to the course (I think) gives me the sense that he will be peaked for the KGV where you can really see him excelling
Everything about Trabolgan’s style of running shouts Cheltenham to me
If KK makes it back nicely, we could be heading for a quality period in teh stayers division
March 20, 2006 at 13:02 #70109Would that include his Sun Alliance win last year Clive? :biggrin:
