Thanks Gladders and sorry I posted before checking the facts. Had a feeling at the back of my mind that I was being a bit unfair to the dear old Jockey Club. Swapping badges back and forth whilst at the races is unacceptable and the Touts well their days are numbered now people are aware they could be refused entry and have to pay twice.

I don’t think touts days are numbered just don’t buy your ticket from a tout directly outside a racecourse where there cameras are.

There are plenty of touts at Ascot on the walkway from the station to the course.

I suspect it won’t be long before they do away with hard copy tickets, even e-ticket print outs, and literally every ticket will be e-ticket and solely presentable on a smart phone.

Virtually everyone has a smart phone nowadays and it will save a lot on security policing this as it will wipe out touts forever the instant it’s introduced.

I have them somewhere between confidence tricksters, preying on little old ladies, and estate agents on my respect ladder.

I was asked by one if I had tickets to buy or sell, said “no” and he gave the young woman walking just behind me a right hook, knocking her spark out.

He presumably thought she was my girlfriend for, as stated, she was walking very close up to me.

As it turned out, she was a complete stranger and was simply in the process of picking my pocket, so he inadvertently did me a favour, but it’s the principle that counts!
