this may have been covered before but as im a newbie thought i would ask the question anyways….
on attheraces website Matt Doyle gives his Tips of the day, now to an average punter like myself i would look at this in the hope of getting a tip for a nice priced horse, in todays colum he gives Boomtown a 1/4 shot with Ladbrokes in the 7.20 at wolv tonight now surley this is not a tip as most people would have came up with this horse themselves, his other tip is a 5/4 at lingfield, do you think that the likes of Matt should only put up tips that there is a good profit to be made??

My advice would be to take no notice of their tips when they select such short priced horses, just go with your own judgement and pick a different race to have a bet in. If you are a £5 or £10 punter, there is absolutely no fun in waiting till tonight to stick it on a 1/4 shot, when there are four meetings this afternoon with a lot of competitive racing.
However, I’m not saying don’t listen to the likes of Matt Doyle and other tipsters/pundits as they can be very informative and you might get some different kind of tips – ie, tips that will help you gain confidence in looking through the cards yourself and coming up with your own selections. Plus, it’s much more fun going for your own selections
And by the way, if you think Matt picking a 1/4 shot is bad, you should listen to Alex Quinn on Sky Sports News every morning – I think she has now selected 13,276 consecutive favourites
