Timeform now have a 12 page extract from Chasers & Hurdlers on their website.
Here is the link for those wanting a sample:
September 8, 2006 at 14:14 #76426Grassy – I’ve just had a call to confirm my copy has arrived via DHL at 15:00 today.
September 8, 2006 at 16:17 #76523The Grade 1’s that BOS wins in Ireland are contested by horses that in the main are getting ready for the festival. In many cases I doubt if many are near peak fitness when they amble round with BOS.
When Beef Or Salmon beat War Of Attrition at Christmas War Of Attrition had raced 3 time already that season and won 2 of them including beating Kicking King. Indeed he had run as recently as the 11th of December. Forget The Past, had run twice already. Hedgehunter had an outing over hurdles and was stuffed again in the Hennessy despite having the run under his belt.
Were they all at their absolute peak that day? Doubtful…..but to suggest they were all unfit, non triers in a race worth over 100,000 euro to the winner is way off and there is no evidence to back it up.
September 8, 2006 at 17:00 #76427DHL for Scotland, Royal Mail for England it seems and a day late via the former. Good old GPO – ‘with us it’s personal’ – whatever that’s supposed to mean.
September 8, 2006 at 19:03 #76524if you both think those races in Ireland are top notch then fair play to you.
but…I don’t
Then the Gold Cup was not up to much either.
Agree pretty much with everything grasshopper hoper posted and thankfully when he does edit his earlier postings they are not as misleading as others have made them in the past.
September 8, 2006 at 19:06 #76525BOS’s Irish form is at least the equal, and very probably the superior, of any staying chase form this side of the channel. It doesn’t have to be a big field on good ground with a fast pace to be a good, or even great, performance.
September 8, 2006 at 20:56 #76428Lungfuls of that particular scented lady are best appreciated by the leisured, indolent gentleman on retiring to bed at the civilised hour of 3am to sample the equally alluring aroma of a freshly opened Timeform annual; to the DM’d foot-soldier bolting typhoo and toast at the uncivilised hour of 3am prior to pounding the streets around sunrise her caress is surely more anaesthetic than euphoric.
Whatever gets you through the night
September 8, 2006 at 22:11 #76526Have we done on this now lads?…I’ve worked it out..I’m wrong on everything and shouldn’t pass a view..otherwise if it doesn’t fall in with the majority..I’m deemed a **** wit.
Glad thats solved…:)
September 11, 2006 at 11:50 #76528In the absence of the book, I would imagine that Kingscliff derives his rating from the BetFair Chase (where he had BoS and KK behind) and that KK derives his rating from the King George – the implicit suggestion being that Timeform rate the BetFair Chase a better race than the King George
If so then the rating was based on a nine length beating of a horse which had returned with a "shoe problem". Connections always admant that this was significant
Also, werent about half the fences omitted or something? Wasnt it a bumper ?? :o
Still in fairness, kingscliff did go to uphold the form :)

Presumably this is ironic.
Though in reality ofcourse, the runner-up did go on to confirm the form, and confirm in in style in the Lexus and Irish Hennessy. Royal Auclair didn’t really let it down next time either when he won a Cheltenham handicap off 155 did he.
September 11, 2006 at 12:58 #76530That had been Royal auclair’s first run for 7 months…
September 11, 2006 at 13:27 #76531Well, for my money KK and BOS beat
– a horse that ran well below form due to a "shoe problem"
– One coming back after a long layoff and probably needed the race
– A once rated but exceptionally erratic performer (who jumped badly)
Every victory will have excuses for those that are beaten, but i find it hard to take this race that seriously especially given that so many fences were omitted
If timeform think that it is the best chase of the season, then so be it, but there are winners from other races that i think had just a bit more about them…
September 11, 2006 at 14:16 #76532Oh god yes :o
Nothings goings right today
