Captain Paulie’s working very well supposedly, whch is not unusual. However, he doesn’t seem to reproduce that on the track

However, at 5/1 today at Cork he’s worth €5 e/w.
+ €89.90
October 22, 2010 at 21:43 #323947€19 back from Dynamic Approach who finished 2nd, and €40 back from Captain Paulie who held on to beat Fire Belt by the smallest of margins.
+ €148.90
Also, had my biggest ever winner when Gimli’s Rock went in, in my thread in the notebook section
, really made up for the disappointing Princess Gaia and Oscar Hill last week.Tomorrow I really fancy Duke Of Lucca, who I think could be a candidate for novice chase glory at Cheltenham in March. Ever since I lost on him when he threw away a bumper I’ve followed him very closely.
He’ll probably be around the 5/1 mark for tomorrow’s Silver Trophy at Chepstow. That will do for me
October 23, 2010 at 11:11 #324024My friend Fisher Bridge
turns up at Wexford today, and is 2/1 to atone for his narrow Munster National loss. However, he’ll need to improve to beat Lenabane, a Luso gelding who plied his trade at the highest level last season. He was 4th behind both Citizen Vic and Pandorama in Grade 1’s last year, and looked the winner turning in in the latter race. €10 win @ 5/2Duke Of Lucca is an overly generous 13/2 for today’s Silver Trophy. He has a big weight but imo should defeat Restless Harry in a tight finish
Good e/w price anyway.I’ve had a €0.50 yankee (total €5.50) on Duke Of Lucca 13/2, Lenabane 5/2, Medermit 4/9, and Captain Chris 5/4.
€15 e/w Duke Of Lucca.
I’ll also have €10 win on Captain Chris at whatever price I can get; €10 win double with Auricaria.
+ €83.40.
October 24, 2010 at 11:07 #324234Casamento saved my bacon yesterday with victory in the Racing Post Trophy.
Fisher Bridge showed what he would have done had Condon went for him earlier in the Munster National

Today two horses interest me greatly, both at Galway. Baily Green and The Shepherd King in maiden hurdles.
Baily Green looked like the winner in a recent bumper in Gowran before blowing up and finishing 3rd. Runners from the Mouse Morris stable usually come on for the run and I’m expecting a huge run today.
The Shepherd King won his bumper cosily and looked a smart prospect. He sets the standard and should be hard to beat.
€20 win Baily Green @ 7/2
€20 win The Shepherd King @ 3/1
€10 win DOUBLEOctober 24, 2010 at 12:55 #324260€11 place @ 10/11 Red Rouble at Towcester
October 24, 2010 at 13:20 #324266Red Rouble 2nd

Baily Green is a NR so I now have €30 on The Shepherd King @ 3/1.
I’m letting the tenner profit from Red Rouble carry on to All In A Days Work to place at Wexford @ 85/40
+ €53.40
October 24, 2010 at 13:30 #324273Fisher Bridge showed what he would have done had Condon went for him earlier in the Munster National

Apparently the owners didn’t want Carberry on him
October 24, 2010 at 13:38 #324274The more I look at Cue Card the more I think 8/13 is extreme value!!

Going to put the €53.40 that I’m up on him @ 8/13. BANG

+/- 0
Surprised to hear that IC! Surely couldn’t have waited any longer than Condon did the last day

They weren’t impressed with Paul’s riding of Nicanor a few times. Meade has a fair few fancied today – I’m not to sure about the thing in the bumper though. His pedigree is loaded with stamina. If they don’t go a pace he’ll be done for boot, suspect Nina might make it.
Cue Card is a stand out bet today. If he was with Nicholls or Mullins he’d be 1/5.
October 24, 2010 at 15:43 #324303€10 win Head Of The Posse @ 6/4
October 24, 2010 at 16:04 #324308€5 win Mirador Del Conde @ 4/1
October 24, 2010 at 16:21 #324311+ €216.26
Dunno whether Mirador won there, on first look I thought he did
October 24, 2010 at 16:50 #324313Miradoor just got up right at the death (SP 9/2), capping a good day for me

+ €27.50
+ €243.76
October 25, 2010 at 13:55 #324461Donna’s Palm is head and shoulders above the opposition at Galway today, and I’d be surprised if the result is anything other than an easy victory. €40 win @ 8/11
The other horse I’ve backed is Jessie’s Dream in the beginners chase against Bertie’s Dream and Venalmar. Venalmar hasn’t looked the same horse since his brilliant novice hurdle season, although his recent 3rd does perhaps show that he retains some ability.
Bertie’s Dream is a bigger danger imo, as I’d rate Tell Massini as the best of last season’s staying novice hurdlers. Bertie’s Dream ran a very creditable race behind Tell Massini at Cheltanham last November. That form has to be respected.
However, Jessie’s Dream has always shown a lot of promise. His 3rd behind Roberto Goldback at Leopardstown reads particularly well. His previious chasing experience should also stand him in good stead. €10 win @ 3/1
+ €193.76
October 25, 2010 at 15:53 #324494€69 return on Donna’s Palm and €40 return on Jessies Dream. That’s six winners in a row, just on one of those runs!

+ €302.76
October 26, 2010 at 10:10 #324603As soon as Ladbrokes opened up 14/1 on Cheltenian in the bumper at Punchestown I put in a fairly serious Usain Bolt impression.
I was dismayed when I got to the counter with my €15 e/w only to discover the price had already evaporated and 9/1 was all they were offering.
I had my bet after some mental deliberation and must now say I’m delighted to see he’s 4/1 across the board

It seems I didn’t completely miss the boat then

I’ve been told Bet365 opened at 40/1!

€15 e/w @ 9/1
+ €272.76
October 27, 2010 at 14:39 #324884Cheltenian came 2nd…got back €42
+ €314.76
The beginners chase at Punchestown sees a few capable animals out, Magninimity, Definite Edge, Arabella Boy among others. Smoking Aces is the one I like though. He has great place prospects. I’ve kept a close eye on him since he finished 2nd to Voler La Vedette at Leopardstown in a novice hurdle a couple of years ago. The 2m 4f could be a bit sharp for him but Magninimity is in the same boat. The one thing Smoking Aces will do is keep going, so I really can’t see him out of the places. €16 PLACE @ 13/8
+ €298.76
