Checked out the odds about the Grade 3 2m 4f novice chase at Tipperary tomorrow expecting to see
Blacklough
vying for favouritism. I wouldn’t trust Indevan as far as I’d throw one of his shoes and Blacklough impressed me last time out. Was about to take 6/1 about Blacklough with Betvictor before I saw his price on Betfair, with money available at the 9 and 10/1 mark
I will hopefully lay some off at a shorter price tomorrow.Tipperary 5.25
Blacklough
€20 win @ average 9/1 (BF)- €55

€20 win @ average 9/1 (BF)Interesting horse. I have backed him quite a few times. He usually travels very well but quite often doesn’t find as much off the bridle as you would think. Probably makes him quite a tricky ride.

We’ll soon find out now. I’m not an Indevan fan at all to be honest, when he’s good he looks very good but if something can get him at it I think he’s a bit soft.
I’ve laid my stake of €20 on Blacklough at 4.7.

October 9, 2014 at 14:03 #491806I’ve followed Boz in on
Pendra
for the Paddy Power Gold Cup. I was very keen on this horse for the novice handicap chase on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival and but for a blunder at the last he may well have won. As it happened, he wasn’t beaten far in to third and now only races off a two pound higher mark after a poor run in the Irish National. His record first time out is excellent and I usually like to side with a horse coming out of the novice ranks in these types of races.
Paddy Power Gold Cup
Pendra

October 12, 2014 at 07:41 #492133Ffos Las 5.30
Rock The Kasbah
€20 win @ 6/4- €75
October 12, 2014 at 12:37 #492146I should have waited with Rock The Kasbah, available at 15/8 now.
I’ve backed
Shanpallas
in the Munster National. He ran an excellent race last time at Listowel, if he had jumped the last two fences better he would have went very close indeed. He’s only gone up three pounds and at 8/1 looks a solid each way alternative to the well backed favourite, Bose Ikard.
I’ve also had a couple of flat bets at the Curragh. Great Minds looked very progressive when last seen in May while Clondaw Warrior won a Galway handicap with any amount in hand last time out. I’ve backed both and in an e/w double as well.
Limerick 5.10
Shanpallas
€10 e/w @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes)- €95
October 12, 2014 at 16:49 #492166Great Minds was a non runner and my other flat bet Clondaw Warrior was desperately disappointing despite a big gamble. Thankfully the jumpers did the business to ensure a profitable day.

October 13, 2014 at 13:23 #492221When I seen you betting at a horse at Ffos Las Tommy, I took note, and my Mug 15, became a Mug 31……….sadly the rest of them didn’t play ball haha
October 15, 2014 at 16:52 #492402I’m surprised
Alderwood
has opened up at 5/2 for tomorrow’s big race at Punchestown, a 2m 7f chase. He received 10 lbs from both Don Cossack and Roi Du Mee, who he rated within three pounds of both. He also has the benefit of a recent run, a fine effort in the Kerry National under 11-07. Shanpallas has gave that form a boost by winning at the weekend and on the likely decent ground Alderwood surely has a favourites chance.
Punchestown 4.15
Alderwood

You’d be as well off sticking to your tricasts
October 16, 2014 at 09:40 #492469As well as Alderwood at Punchestown, I’ve backed
Carningli
in the 2m 4f novice hurdle at Uttoxeter. He wasn’t a million miles off the top bumper horses last season, having ran Red Sherlock close at Cheltenham before being beaten at Ascot in a race where Joshua Lane was second. I think he probably has a similar level of ability to the favourite for the other novice hurdle, Battle Born, but has less in the way of opposition, and is a bigger price.
Uttoxeter 3.30
Carningli
€30 win @ 1/1+ €25
October 16, 2014 at 18:23 #492507No luck today, but good news that
Vautour
is likely to go chasing. 6/1 for the Arkle looks a good bet even at this stage. Champagne Fever was 4/1 if I remember correctly and he wasn’t near as impressive as a novice hurdler. Vautour has always looked a real chaser even though he jumps hurdles so fluently. If he jumps fences as well then there’s not much hope for the opposition this season.
Arkle
Vautour

October 16, 2014 at 19:07 #492513A rare bet for me across the pond on a weekday, in the first race at Perth.
BLACKLION
looked a promising sort in bumpers for Nigel Twiston Davies and is fancied to make a winning hurdles debut. Gordon Elliott’s Pumped Up Kicks looks the danger but I think she’ll struggle to concede weight to the favourite.
I’m staying loyal to
Blacklion
at Cheltenham tomorrow in the opener. This represents a step up in quality for Nigel Twiston-Davies horse but he shaped like a horse with plenty of improvement to come last time out. His jumping will hopefully be sharper and he should relish the stiff finish at Prestbury Park. The only worry is that he already needs more of a stamina test than tomorrow will provide, but at 3/1 I’m willing to play ball.
Cheltenham 2.05
Blacklion
€20 win @ 3/1 (B365)- €65

I had a decent weekend on the betting front with Forgotten Rules winning me a tidy sum (put up in the Big Races section). He looks a potential staying champion so it must now be doubtful that he jumps hurdles this season.
I’ve reinvested some of my Forgotten Rules winnings with another bet on Pendra for the Paddy Power Gold Cup. I saw a quote where Longsdon mentioned a race at Ascot as an alternative but it doesn’t take a genius to see that the race is made for him.
