It’s my turn to get the ball rolling this week. We didn’t have much luck between us last week but I thought that Adrian and Crizzy were going to deliver the goods with their selection of Ernie Els over in Dubia but Tiger yet again decided to spoil the party :( Lets hope one of us can return to winning ways this week :)

The European tour goes to India for the inaugural running of the Indian Masters in Delhi. Conditions are predicted to be quite cool which may help the europeans. I can’t back Ernie at the price after last week’s efforts and I don’t really have any strong fancies for this event. I’ll go for the experienced asian player Thongchai Jaidee along with Soren Kjeldsen who had 6 top ten finishes last year including a 2nd at the Volvo Masters.

Over in the USA it’s the AT & T pro-am at Pebble beach which big Phil likes so much as he has won it twice in the last 3 years. I can’t back him at his price either because his putting is presently not up to his normal standard yet.

I’ll start off by going for 2 players at long odds – it’s another chance to Jeff Quinney at 100’s who finished well last week and I’m also going to bet again on John Mallinger at 120’s because he finished 3rd here last year.

My main bets are on 3 players. Firstly it’s Hunter Mahan as I think he will like this course much more than at Scottsdale last week and he has finished in the top 20 in both his recent visits to this event. Also Daniel Chopra has played well at this event before ( 11th, 5th, 16th in last 3 years ) and has been in good form over the last few months. I thought he was going to get involved in the finish at the end of the FBR last week but he he hit his golf ball into the water on the 11th and made a double bogey which spoilt his chances. Finally I will go for Nick Watney who started off the year with a 5th place in Hawaii and he has played well here before and was brought up in this part of the world.

    Good luck to everybody :)

Morning Campers, especially to my learned colleagues PETE, MIKE and CRIZZY and to anyone else who would like to add an opinion.

Well what do we make of last week, on the whole not brilliant although i thought at one point myself, Crizzy and Pete were going to get something out of the Dubai Desert alas not to be as the Headmaster came along to once again send us to detention .

Well having sifted through the events for this week on Bookies Index i see that we are mob handed, just the 5 Tournaments with which to scour through, if you know me i won’t duck the challenge  so without further ado here we go.

Will begin with the African Open, not alot to go on here so will keep this one simple Hennie Otto and Titch Moore will do for me here.

Moving on to the first running of the Indian Masters, to begin with will have to pass Ernie over this week as i feel a hangover from last week may still be playing on him :).

As Pete has stated it will not be too warm, as i have looked at the Beebs website for World Weather the highest Temperature if it is to be believed is 22 degrees, so yes the Europeans could well have a larger say than may have been expected under normal Circuimstances.

First up here though i will be going local in the shape of Jeev-Milkha Singh, just a hunch as he is not in the best of nick at present.

Another player who is also not in good nick is Raphael Jacquelin but at current odds will be having a nugget or two.

Up next is one European who i think could go well and that if he can carry over last weeks excertions Graeme Mcdowell will i think be involved again come Sunday afternoon.

There are others that figured in my plans but having slept on it have decided to pass thme over on this occasion, those being Simon Dyson, Alexander Noren and David Howell so one of them will be lifting the trophy on Sunday .

Will give the Ladies a mention next and it’s down under we go again for the ANZ Ladies Masters.

Having passed Karrie over last week it will come as no surprise that i will be doing so again although what can beat her i am not sure, so a speculative selection here, i am going in single handed on Ai Miyazato although two of my picks from last weeks nightmare turn out again, those being Laura Davies and Linda Wessberg who it seems has also not yet warmed to the task of being one to follow for me this year so as above one of them will be lifting the trophy come the weekend .

From Ozz to the US and the AT+T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Firstly we have a better chance than last week as His Highness Sir Tiger has decide to ply his trade in the Nappie changing department again some would say he should stay there  but not me, so what do we like here.

First up i am going to send to room 101 Messrs Mickelson agree with Pete on that one and stand by also being passed over will on this occasion be a certain P Harrington :o.

Will i’m afraid i will be going with Jim Furyk again, what do we make of last weeks Winner JB Holmes first thing he has won Since corresponding event two years ago so for that reason he will also be going to room 101.

My other two for this will be Tim Clark and Hunter Mahan who at present i don’t think i will be leaving out to often :).

Finally to the Seniors and the Allianz Championship.

As the Allianz Arena is the home of Bayern Munich i’m sure Bernhard will be going all out for this and along with Loren Roberts and Eduardo Romero look to have solid clams but i can’t do all three at the current prices, so having mulled over it for a while will be going in with Eduardo Romero and one at a price who has done me a favour or two in the past Mark James.

Well that will just about do it for me for the time being, so as always to everyone Be Lucky.

    Cheers for now.

    Adrian.[/b]

    Hi chaps,

After last week’s disastrous outcome (how dare we have a winless week) I feel a few wins are on the cards come Sunday night.

As for me, I won’t get to watch much golf this weekend so I haven’t really gave the golf a serious look, and stakes will be kept to a minimum.

In the Indian Open my four against the field are Simon Dyson (27 on BF), Thomas Bjorn (55 on BF), David Howell (70 on BF), and Raphael Jacquelin (95 on BF).

It may be a big mistake to ignore the home based payers who will be trying desperately to win this trophy, but I can’t ignore the ‘class’ players I’ve mentioned above. There are question marks over all of them regarding recent form, but not any more question marks than Darren Clarke has at the moment, and yet he is shorter than at least three of my selections in the betting.

Over at Pebble Beach I’m going to give Vijay Singh (28 on BF) another chance to recapture his best form, and follow him in with Justin Leonard (28 on BF) and Tim Clark (44 on BF).

I’ve also had a dabble on Ross Fisher (13 on BF) to be the top European.

Good luck everyone, let’s hope there are plenty of birdies and eagles for our selected men, and that Tiger decides to staw away from the golf course until The Masters so that someone else can win a tournament.

One of my selections Thongchai Jaidee has withdrawn from the Indian Open

I have decided to replace him with Jeev-Milkha Singh ( sorry Adrian – blame me when he misses the cut ) in the hope that playing in his country can inspire him to return to the form he showed in late 2006 when he won 3 tournaments. I was lucky to have my money on him in the last two of those wins. I’ve backed him since about 7 times without success though and had given up on him but I’m going to give him another chance.

Hi Pete, don’t worry about that, i do not have a problem with that, especially as i have been on the Stenson bandwagon for the last two weeks, look where that got us :).

    Catch you later.

Hi Adrian – this is weird because I have just come on here to see who everybody backed last week and after a few mins, I managed to find the website for the African Open — here it is

    http://www.pgatour.co.za/default.asp?aI … es=article

Well done to Mike last week for tipping Singh and even though Singh didn’t win I imagine that Mike will have made a profit from laying his bet off.
We also came close with Jacquelin in India who Mike and Adrian selected and also Romero finished well for Adrian in the Seniors. I had a big priced place selection in the USA with Mallinger.

Best of luck for this week

    Pete

Hi Pete, thanks for that although it was of no good to me , however the week turned out ok due to Mr Jacquelin’s exploits although i think i might need to find a Bookie who pays out after the 3rd Round  :) as for the second week that has been the case had the Leader going into Sunday.

Romero did manage to reach the Summit during the last round of the Seniors, but could not stay there, not to worry though, we will give it our best shot this week and beyond i’m sure.

I will be back at somepoint with this weeks fare as i’m on Holiday this week, Half Term as well, some would say a Glutten for punishment :D :)

    Catch you all later.

    Adrian.

I hardly won a bean Pete. Well I won nothing from laying Jacqullin or Singh

Both led going into the final round, both trading at brilliant odds to lay them off and guarantee a profit – but I never did a thing, just let the bets ride lol.

The reason I let them ride is, as you know, I back my golfers each way (or top 5 finish) and I was confident one of the two would win at least and both would place. As we know, that never happened but my each way bets just about paid for my outlay on the week – with a small profit to get 8 cans of Grolsch

I won’t let that opportunity slip again – I’ve learnt my lesson lol.

    Mike
