I’m going to start the ball rolling this week with the golf

Firstly I must say a big well done to Padraig Harrington for another win in a Major – he is certainly taking advantage of Tiger’s absence.
The Euro tour returns to normal with the SAS Masters in Sweden where Robert Karlsson starts as favourite but does not look value in my opinion at 9/1
as the par 70 course may not suit him. I do not have any strong feelings about this event and will just have the one bet on Soren Kjeldsen. On the pga tour, it’s the Wyndham Championship which takes place on a different course than last year. It’s a par 70 with small greens and a fair share of bunkers and water hazards. Accuracy is likely to be important. David Toms played his best golf for some time in last week’s final Major and I am betting on him as this course should be to his liking. Zach Johnson has never won a pga outside the state of Georgia but I’m hoping he will change that stat this week. My other selections are Ryan Moore and George McNeill.
The lpga tour continues with the Canadian Womens Open. My money is on Paula Creamer at the generous odds of 20/1
and Cristie Kerr who have both played well at this event in the past. I also like the chances of Na Yeon Choi & Eun Hee Ji.Good luck to everybody betting on the golf

August 13, 2008 at 08:16 #176861Good morning fellow Golfing chums.
Well firstly my thanks to Pete for getting the ball rolling this week, no such thing as a quiet wind down before a holiday
in my case.I have an Axe to grind this week
, more on that later.I will begin with the Ladies and the Canadian Open.
First out of the hat here will be Annika Sorenstam, going back to a couple of weeks ago when i said that she should be backed until she retires at the end of the year i have not exactly stuck to that, in saying that 11/4 last week is a world away from the 25’s available this week so i had no hesitation in hoovering that up, had she been about the 8’s mark i would have passed her over again.
Next for me is none other than Paula Creamer who along with my other two selections for this Kristy Mcpherson and a first outing for me this week to Ai Miyazato all performed with a degree of credit in some way at the British Open the other week.
The European leg of the Ladies Tour lands in Wales this week for the S4C Wales Ladies Championship, and my usual suspects will be asked again to do the deed for me, those being Rebecca Hudson, Melissa Reid and Paula Marti, one absentee for me here will be Maria Verchenova, who pulled out last week i believe.
On to the men then and the SAS Masters or in my case the SOS Masters
, here also there will be no Robert Karlsson for me this week.Alexander Noren has the honour of being first here and assuming all is well a welcome back to a player that caught my attention earlier in the year but for one reason or another has had some time off or has been on another Tour, the gent in question is Joost Luiten, i have the Orangeboom’s on standby
.Finally here and either by sponsors invite or maybe another reason i could not help but notice the presence of DJ Trahan who has had a reasonable time of it on the PGA tour recently.
So finally for me and this weeks offering from Stateside and the Wyndham Championsip a tricky one for me this but i am going into bat with my old chum Tim Clark ably supported by Lucas Glover and this is where i get a little physical
, it is time to wield the axe and a first try is given to Eric Axley, it is also with reluctance here that Bubba Watson is passed over, in saying that i am sure will enjoy his week in room 101 especially with Maria Verchenova lying in wait
, although i am sure that Robert Karlsson will have something to say about that
.Well that will do it for me for now, so to Pete, Mike, Crizzy, FanciedHorseLayer, the Best of British.
Cheers for now.
Adrian.
August 14, 2008 at 15:08 #177003Sorry I didn’t post any selections guys.
I have been to and from the hospital quite regularly the last few days. Good news is I’ve got my pot off, bad news is I’ve got a bizarre looking clamp attached to my hand, designed for holding the bone together and making it stronger. However, I’ve discovered it’s real intention – to hit every door frame possible when entering rooms, thus making my hand very painful
