Verizon Heritage
Last years winner Boo Weekley @ 40’s Ladbrokes, having missed half a dozen cuts previous to this win last season,is in much better form this season going in the same event, with a number of top ten finishes and a good showing in the masters but feel away with a final round 77,we know the putter is hes nemeses and being 174th in the putting stats underlines that,no problem with the rest of hes game, the two market leaders Cink is ranked 97th and Els ranked 116th in the putting stats.Longshot – JB Holmes 100’s avaliable
T40 and T36 previously in this event,2006 saw a quick start shooting 67 and 69 the first 2 rounds before falling away,2007 saw a slowish start a first round 70 was followed by a 73 comeback with a 68 but fell away again in the last round, hes a very chancey bet but has won already this season so could surprise.Good luck Guys
April 16, 2008 at 09:37 #158055Morning Campers.
Well after last weeks goings on which Pete and I were less than impressed, with reference to the Winner
, fair play to him however the show as they say goes on.First up this week is the Token Homemate Cup and not much to go on here so as the saying goes a Token gesture on Toru Taniguchi will hope fully suffice.
On next to the Athens regional Foundation Classic and trusted with brining Back the Bacon here will be Jarrod Lyle.
Moving on to the European Men’s offering for this week and the Volvo China Open and to me there is something Fishy going on here
more in a moment.I will be going in Four handed here firstly after coming close last time David Howell gets the first vote in the hope that he is now over his problems.
I am going to give another chance to my Orangeboom friend Joost Luiten to hopefully start fulfilling his potential.
Right now for the Fishy bit and making up my quintet this week are none other the Messrs Ross And Oliver Fisher in the hope that Fisher is indeed the right price
.Two events for the ladies this week and first offering goes to the European leg and the Open De Espana Femenino.
Flying the flag here will be Trish Johnson one half of England’s winning team from a few weeks ago and Iben Tinning who ought to go close here.
So to the States and the Verizone Heritage.
Usually I oppose players who had competed in a Major the previous week but I am going to buck the trend on this occasion.
Stewart Cink will be my main focus of attention here as he still keeps churning out reasonable results albeit sometimes without threatening to win but here for me is a golden chance to put that right.
The supporting cast will consist of Lucas Glover and one that may surprise a few Nick Dougherty who for his first venture at Augusta last week as he said in his interview was a Major success, so hopefully he can build on that and at the odds I have seen 100’s in places he does not deserve to be that big in my book.
Next and the second of this weeks events for the Ladies and the Ginn Open and yes we will probably be in need of a Tonic by now

Having had a long think yesterday I decided to go in single handed here and I have managed to get the 25’s available on the Nanny, nice to know that they have other uses besides babysitting
will probably end up with many eggs on face, no surprise I’m afraid for guessing who but Paula Creamer is once again entrusted with the extra burden of having me on her shoulders poor girl
.Finally and after hopefully gaining the much needed Tonic from the Ginn open we move to the Steakhouse where hopefully a nice 8 oz awaits and it is this weeks offering from the Seniors and the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.
Bernhard seems the most obvious again but having looked down the list I came across Mark James who at 70’s available again to me seems overpriced although to be fair he has not been in the best of form recently.
Well as always the best of British to all and Be Lucky.
Cheers for now.
Adrian.
April 16, 2008 at 09:55 #158058Good luck to Cockney, Adrian and anybody else betting on the golf. After my disaster at the Masters, I feel that I can’t do any worse this week.
The pga tour returns to normal at South Carolina with the Verizon Heritage which Ernie Els looked like winning easily at one stage last year but he was caught on the line ( I blame the jockey
) by Boo Weekley.
My first selection is very predictable and is Aaron Baddeley who won this event in 2006 and finished 10th last year.
Next up and it’s time for me to bet on the talented young american Sean O’Hair for the first time this year which will probably coincide with him missing the cut for the first time since early March.
It is possible that some of the leading fancied players may be feeling jaded after playing the four days of the Masters so I’m going for a couple of outsiders named John Mallinger at 140’s who I think could win sometime this year and Charles Howell III at 120’s who is due a return to decent form and I think this course will suit his style of play.On to the lpga tour and the Ginn Open has attracted a top field. Lovely Lorena is in great form but is odds on to win which is no value in my opinion. I’m having a decent e/way bet on Suzann Pettersen at 20/1 who impressed me with her play and attitude when I watched her in the first ladies major recently. I’ll also go for Mi Hyun Kim who also played well at the major to finish 6th and won this event in 2006.
Over to the Volvo China Open in the city of Beijing. The course is a long par 72 with lots of water hazards and I hate to think what is lurking in the water as Beijing has recently been named as the pollution capital of the world
My opinion is that the asian players may be at a disadvantage on this course ( so one of them is sure to win ) and I like the chances of Ross Fisher who played well in the USA recently and has performed well in China before. Also carrying my money will be Raphael Jacquelin who has played some of his best golf in this part of the world. My third selection is the australian Kane Webber who has played consistently so far this year.Happy punting
