There are two major issues at play: firstly, the dumbing down of the public, which has been a deliberate ploy since Thatcher (and Reagan in the US) assumed power, and secondly the fact that politicians of all sides, but especially on the right, blatantly lie to the public.

The ignorance about history of many people in my local pub is amazing, even among those approaching my age.
Most of them have heard of Hitler but not how he rose to power, and very few of them have any idea about Mussolini, Franco or Tito. Marx, Lenin, Stalin etc. they seem to think were fictional characters if they have heard of them at all.

Do you think that Never Sweat Nigel will make the trains run on time?

Seeing that the frog-faced fascist is the bookies’ favourite to be the PM after the next general election, I would like to ask potential Reform voters one simple question:

Why are you going to vote for them?

After all, you always hear Reform supporters say that they aren’t racist or stupid, so why are they voting for a racist party whose interests do not align with those of the working man?

I think they can be split into the following groups:

    A) Old people who are racist by today’s terms but don’t recognise themselves as such. They still think Britannia rules the waves, are deeply suspicious of anything foreign and align themselves with Farage due to his anti-EU stance and “stop the boats” rhetoric (even though most of them rarely come in contact with these media created bogeymen).

    B) Poorly educated people in unsatisfying/low paid jobs who are frustrated that they can’t have the unattainable lifestyle relentlessly promoted by social and broadcast media. They want someone to blame for their “failure” and currently that means previous governments of all persuasions, and of course, immigrants.

    C) Younger people who don’t know any better, for example moehat’s grandson’s friends who think Farage is funny in the same way that Johnson’s “posh buffoon” persona was funny. Neither are making me laugh.

Thanks for the response, Salut A Toi.👍

    On your three categories:

    A) Ah yes, Nigel “anti-immigration” Farage. Just don’t mention his immigrant wife.

    B) So a few thousand illegal immigrants are the cause of people’s woes, not the 45 years of asset stripping and low wages caused by Conservative and Tory-Lite governments? That must be it.

    C) There was an academic report released earlier this week that said that human brains are still in the adolescent phase until the early 30s. I would suggest that Labour should have raised the voting age to 35, not decreased it to 16. Young people don’t have a clue. Similarly, the report showed that human brains start to show clear signs of deterioration from the late 60s onwards. So there should be an upper voting age of 65.

Only those aged 35 to 65 should be allowed to vote, to extrapolate upon the science.

By the way, Richard Tice’s partner, the execrable “political commentator” Isabel Oakeshott, lives in Dubai.

So she’s an immigrant surrounded by Sharia-law supporters, but she, her partner and their party rail against immigration and Muslims. And this true patriot pays no UK tax.

And people still somehow fall for it.

Didn’t know that about IO. Seen her on QT and always thought what a horrible woman she is. Wiki says she left due to labour putting vat on private school fees – figures  The only good thing about if Farage comes to power in 2029 is that I retire. He’s not having any of my hard earned.

He doesn’t live here, he doesn’t pay taxes here. What right has he got to interfere with our democracy?

Not my words, the words of Richard Tice.

Richard Tice comments on overseas donations come back to haunt him

“Reform are losing a councillor every 27 days”

    Are they? In what context?

Since May, they’ve won 54 council by-elections (source: Lib Dem peer Mark Pack)

Still no a answer to my question posted nearly a week ago: how will a Reform government improve your life?

Winning by-elections they may be but they’re also losing a lot of councillors when they find out that it involves doing some actual work or that it doesn’t involve ‘stopping the boats’ or they weren’t actually eligible to stand in the first place or it turns out they’re a colossal racist, you get the idea. All at cost to the public purse of course.

A few signs that the wheels may be starting to come off, Farage isn’t taking these racism accusations very well. I wonder why. Apparently he’s not going to talk to the BBC any more though so that’s a result. We’ll see how long that lasts though. They’ll probably have to cancel Question Time if he follows through with it.

I don’t watch it any more but Mike tells me that the Reform representative was incredibly rude to a member of the audience on Question Time; his MP,who was also on the panel, criticised the comment and the audience backed him up. What nasty people the Reform lot are.
