absolutely heartbreaking run free from pain Sir Gino xxxVf x
March 24, 2026 at 16:08 #1760860Really heartbreaking and once again no sympathy for Henderson when clearly misjudging the situation after his injury. He only declared him out for the season and told the press not to write him off which hinted at a possible comeback sometime.
The poor horse suffered most of the time during his career as he went from one recovery into the next. I can’t blame Nicky for that, but somehow I’m relieved that Sir Gino won’t have to suffer any more.
He was unbeaten throughout his career and still had loads of untapped potential.Rest in peace Sir Gino
March 24, 2026 at 16:13 #1760861It is very sad news. My condolences to his connections, who have really had some rotten luck over the last few years.
Sir Gino was unbeaten in completed starts. He would have hacked up in the Triumph if the Henderson stable had not been under such a cloud. He would have won the Arkle the following year but illness intervened.
Would he have won the Champion Hurdle this year? Would Lossiemouth have run in the race if he had been in it?
I suppose his sad fate is to be one of those tantalising “what if” horses. We know he was very good – but did we ever find out quite how good he was?
It is such a tragedy because he was still so young.
March 24, 2026 at 16:17 #1760862Wasn’t expecting to see his name here terrible news what a shame he never realised his potential.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 24, 2026 at 16:25 #1760863Such sad news. Poor boy had so much talent.
RIP Sir GinoMarch 24, 2026 at 16:28 #1760864You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.March 24, 2026 at 16:29 #1760865Very sad news; the horse was so young and potentially up there with the very best.
March 24, 2026 at 16:34 #1760866We’ll never know how good he could have been
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 24, 2026 at 16:50 #1760867Gutting and it would seem that it was just one infection too far for this brave and talented horse to overcome – condolences to all connections but especially his groom.
Another sad case of what might have been.
RIP Sir Gino and thank you for the all too short memories you gave us.
March 24, 2026 at 17:04 #1760870Heartbreaking news, really thought he was destined to be one of the greats. Tragic too that in this day and age, with all the tools the veterinary profession has, a simple infection was all it took to end his life. Poor lad.
March 24, 2026 at 18:33 #1760878What rotten luck for Sir Gino..
RIP young wonderhorseGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

Condolences to all who loved and cared for him, he will be missed so much.RIP Sir Gino as you cross the Rainbow Bridge to run free from pain forever 😪
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 24, 2026 at 20:06 #1760892Here he is beating this years Arkle winner at Liverpool.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 24, 2026 at 20:50 #1760894Not much to say but genuinely devastated by this. We’ll never know but he looked like he could do it all, very easily.
March 25, 2026 at 00:56 #1760905At the time it looked like a serious injury; reminded me of Killiney’s fall all those years ago
