Derren Brown the psychological illussionist is on C4 tonight at 9p.m.
He will be explaining his system he had devised for always picking the winner of any horse race.
He takes a housewife through his method of finding winners and it leads up to this lady scraping up her very last penny to have one big bet on a race where she cannot according to him lose!

Sorry to report he passed away this week.Anyone think it will actually work? I think its a bit of a scam could have the bookies running for cover on Saturday morning though?
It’s perhaps all done with actors, in on the act – excellent camera work and great editing, as I believe this clip shows when a different camera angle shows that he has done something with the cards;

I don’t think it’s going to be anything original, apparently he just went forward in time to 2015 and bought a sports almanac!
He claimed to have a similar ‘guaranteed’ system for Blackjack, but all he was doing in reality was counting cards.
Perhaps tonight’s show will open with the introduction of a glamorous assistant, and on will come Miles Rodgers in a sequined top and feathered tiara.
OK, I’m getting a bit annoyed already
Ten minutes into the show and Brown says he can ‘guarantee’ a winner. How can he guarantee a winner when he is selecting horses in chases when there is every chance they can fall
He has just said again that the system GUARANTEES a win

Well ‘the system’s’ third bet, Naunton Brook, won the 2.25 at Carlisle on 04/11/2007 and ‘the system’s’ fourth bet, Formation, won the 2.45 at Wolverhampton on the same day.
In that 20 minutes the girl has watched Naunton Brook win, collected her winnings, got home, had a fourth tip 24 hours in advance of the race, got changed and made her way to a bar…at night.
It’s fallen down already.

And whilst the orders of the four ‘volunteers’ and the photographs they chose were seemingly random, the unveiling of the 1.48bn written on the back of said photographs means nothing.
That number only came to be because those people picked those pictures, and as he’d already ‘pre-determined’ who would pick what it stands to reason that he could write the correct numbers on, in order, in advance – the odds would not have changed had the four picked different pictures, been numbered (1 through 4) any differently or stood in any other order.
So is he saying that his system can predict two horses falling at the last or whatever it was, leaving his selection 80 lengths clear

ps: for anyone just reading this running commentary, we still don’t know what the system is – and I guess we never will. The whole show surely is about Derren Brown being a psychic or whatever he is.
