Surely that picture that was put up some time ago wasn’t really Drone, was it? The guy would be in his 80s and I thought Droney was about my age?
July 26, 2014 at 19:58 #486542This one.

I assumed he was joking in that thread, Nathan?
Anyway, I’ve learnt a bit about EWG on google;
Ephraim Gadsby
Bertram Wilberforce "Bertie" Wooster is a recurring fictional character in the Jeeves novels of British author P. G. Wodehouse. An English gentleman, one of the "idle rich" and a member of the Drones Club, he appears alongside his valet, Jeeves, whose genius manages to extricate Bertie or one of his friends from numerous awkward situations.
As the first-person narrator of ten novels and over 30 short stories, Bertie ranks as one of the most vivid comic creations in popular literature. Bertie’s middle name, "Wilberforce", is the doing of his father, who won money on a horse named Wilberforce in the Grand National the day before Bertie was born and insisted on Bertie carrying that name (mentioned in Much Obliged, Jeeves).This is an excerpt from the article Ephraim Gadsby from the Wikipedia free encyclopedia. Presumably you’re being kind enough to play the long game Mr P, for which I thank you, as I find it near-impossible to believe a 50-something tenant on the Lord Marmaduke ‘Chuffy’ Chufnell estates (aka The South Hams) would have fallen for this long con I’ve amused myself with at the expense of dear, young Nathan
A hairy-kneed 47 year old had it sussed early: it really was only 11+ detective work so while I wouldn’t have expected the boy Ricky to solve it, I expected more of you
Got any tips PG?
Yep, that fine visage is not me, sadly, but that of Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881-1975) who, via his inestimable stories, has gilded further my already rather golden life
Sorry for subjecting you to this running joke Nathan; but being a good egg I know you’ll take it in the spirit intended
I still have that John Smith’s Smooth and Black Pudding waiting should you dare ever venture onto the racetracks of Yorkshire. Firm handshake and genuine photo opportunity await …oojah-cum-spiff or what

July 27, 2014 at 18:22 #486619When Nathan mentioned you briefly last week he said that you must be in your 80s judging by your picture. I said it was very unlikely that it was you, he said he thought it was. I’ve worded my post so that you could give him the answer to this v.funny jape, which you’ve done. Cheers.
July 27, 2014 at 19:05 #486623Is there really any need for all of this?
