The official going at Haydock Park was given as <b>good to firm</b>.
After spending about an hour working out the going allowance, I had the routes down as <b>+0.12s/f</b> (good), and the 6f sprints, which were run on the inner course as <b>-0.34s/f</b> (good to soft).
<b>Turf going allowance table:</b>
Firm +0.55s/f to +0.63s/f
Good/firm +0.20s/f to +0.53s/f
Good -0.25s/f to +0.18s/f
Good/soft -0.55s/f to -0.28s/f
Soft -1.00s/f to -0.58s/f
Heavy -1.58s/f to -1.03s/fWhen I read the Racing Post form comments for 2yo winner <b>Hot Coffee</b>, <b>"This looked a decent maiden with a very impressive winner"</b> and noticed that the race was run <b>6.14s</b> seconds outside standard on <b>good to firm</b> going, I came to the conclusion something was not right <!– s:shock: –>
<!– s:shock: –>All the other 6f races retuned slow times…
July 5, 2013 at 10:28 #444830Definitely was an inaccurate going description. like you BB I’ve marked it down as good at best for my formbook, slower on the straight course, not sure how much water they chucked on the course but as usual Tellwright is off the mark, how does this guy still have a job as a clerk of the course?
July 6, 2013 at 05:19 #444894Day 2 of the Haydock meeting, I found the going to be
-0.02s/f
(good) all over.
Kirkland Tellwright the clerk of the Course admitted that he has been watering between 6mm to 8mm each day.
The course is riding
20lb
per furlong slower than the official going description of good to firm.
