Corm, the forum still doesn’t fit the screen. One has to use the scroll bar to read every post, that is poo! Surely this can be sorted?
Cheers
July 6, 2007 at 16:22 #106379Its looking good now Corm, well done.
July 6, 2007 at 16:37 #106383cormack,
Is it possible to turn the wiggling folder icons off (I think these wiggle if there are more than x number of posts – possibly 20)?
If it is, and there is more support than objections from the forum sages, can this please please be done, cause they’re driving me nuts!!!

July 6, 2007 at 17:05 #106387All the animated stuff is very distracting.
July 6, 2007 at 17:05 #106388Looking at the profiles of some of our newer members and their related website, I don’t think some of them will have much to contribute to the site.

Christ, you’re not kidding, DB!
Of the last 50 Forumites to join, 26 have websites in their profiles – 8 of these are recognisably porno sites, 6 pharmaceutical ones, and most of the others too ambiguous to be able to discount as either or neither of the above. An argument for terminating these members’ accounts straight away before dodgy stuff starts getting posted, perhaps?

July 6, 2007 at 18:05 #106394Hi guys –
NV and others – the animated features are of concern to me also. None of us want the site to resemble a fairground so I’m lookign at that. I’ve asked people to restrict avatars to static images and that will be strictly enforced. I’m also looking at restricting the use of smilies to non-animated ones. Don’t want to be a killjoy but I agree that these are very distracting.
Re- new members. Many of those recently joined who are listed on the members list have not had their accounts activated and will not do so. No one is allowed access to posting until they have been vetted by us. Inevitably the odd nutter will pass through the net but, on the whole, we should be able to keep a lid on that threat. We’re looking at installing some additional anti-spam filters on the registration process which will further enhance this protection.
July 6, 2007 at 18:37 #106397Thanks cormack your are on the case.

I agree with Jilly, surely this should be sorted by now.
I like avatars even animated ones but if the rule is that they have to be static then no problems from me, I can’t understand why they can be distractive though, that’s total nonsense.

That’s very reassuring – cheers for clarifying.

July 6, 2007 at 22:59 #106422Sorry about the scrolling – doesn’t happen on my screen. I’ll consult the gurus on that one.
July 6, 2007 at 23:04 #106424Cheers Corm, try TRF in various browsers, no matter which browser I use it appears the same (scroll bar at the bottom) but if I try various browsers on any other website they all fit onto my screen, the view seems to be around four or five inches too wide using basic 800 x 600 pixels display.
If you run an HTML check on the forum you’ll find a lot of errors.
July 7, 2007 at 10:03 #106447It doesn’t matter what resolution you use, it should fit.
I should get back to the designers to sort this out Cormack.
They are plenty of free "phpBB" templates available for them to play about with. eg: http://www.stsoftware.biz/index.html

July 8, 2007 at 01:10 #106591first look for a while and seems much better, well done
July 8, 2007 at 09:24 #106618I’m having serious problems with the screen size.
At present, I can’t even read posts in their entirety by scrolling across.
There’s a cut-off point beyond which I can’t go.
July 8, 2007 at 10:18 #106631My specific problem was with the "so-called superstars" thread which has now either righted itself or been sorted out by someone. If it’s the latter, many thanks.
July 8, 2007 at 10:29 #106634Working on the screen size thing.
