I have been watching Paul Hanagan riding winner after winner in the north of England. He reminds me so much of K.Fallon. Will he be the new champion this year? His trainer seems to give him a lot of good horses to ride. Can he keep up this pace?He seems able to keep horses running just like Fallon.

Could this not have gone in the Paul Hanagan thread?

Doesn’t look as strong as Fallon but rides pretty nearly as strongly.
He’s winning plenty races that other jockeys would probably have lost on and that is a very clear sign that he’s top class.

    Hi All

Cannot agree , with respect, that he is not as strong as Fallon, We only have to look at the ratios of winners to second places. Hanagan is about 30% better. Bare statistics can be misleading, but not by that margin, especially, as generally, Fallon is on a better quality of animal.
Having said that he still has a lot to prove, especially in Group races etc, when margins for error are reduced

Yes it could if I were smart enough.

This is something that’s perplexed me for years: what is a ‘strong’ jockey and how can one determine who is ‘stronger’ than who

Fallon can bench-press a few more pounds than Hanagan?

Fallon holds the jockeys’ arm-wrestling title?

Fallon is more adept at ‘literally lifting a horse across the line’?

    :?

I haven’t been follwing the flat for a while until this year but to me Richard Hughes is one of the best I’ve ever seen

I have heard commentators say of Fallon that he practically lifted the horse over the line.Or was that McCoy!

    Haha. Both very strong pilots.
