Darasso At 3-1 for me also.

I did consider him in the lead up, but I wasn’t sure about him going. I’m happy with 3-1 now that he has been declared.

    I agree befair

The RP writeups always make me laugh, this one probably written by brucey since theres no fancy french names in it, “fortunate to win the fighting fifth” i couldnt see BVD being beat before the race, but to an extent this lad was not for passing and the right horse finished 3rd and ran behind the current ch fav in epetante, lady buttons doesnt exactly let the form down in 4th

Aslong as hes ridden the same and not given one of those “best horse in the race type rides” hes finishing atleast 2nd

Pentland hills as most juveniles do, will bomb and darasso is still very much unknown and ballyandy…. ew.

Cornerstone lad @9/2 is too big IMO

He was fortunate to win though so the write up wasnt wrong

The jockeys gave him a 10 length head start and buveur dair finished with an enormous piece of wood in his hoof

Obviously doesnt mean he wont win this though as the race has very little depth

I think 11/2 is too big for Cornerstone Lad. Okay, he was given an easy time in front, but in the end Silver Streak and Lady Buttons hardly made any ground in the last furlongs and they franked the form. I think Pentland Hills, Darasso and Ballyandy have question marks around them as well, so I will go for the outsider.

Not Nico,s greatest moment , rode pentlands like he was a superstar , good race to watch but from a champion hurdle point of view forget it , hope they take cornerstone lad to a handicap at the festival

I disagree. I think he is a CH contender. Not a heavy ground horse but he needed a run.

That was heavy ground though. Not Aintree soft.

Can see why people want to write off pentland for the champion hurdle but this is the weakest champion hurdle I’ve ever seen I reckon. I still think pentland fully deserves to be near the top of the market for the champion. His form is similar to many of the other key rivals for the race. But clearly there’s an absolute tonne left to come from pentland hills and that’s what I like most about his chances. He pulled hard early on again today and came there swinging. The horse either idles in front or his early keeness blunted his finish, either way a strong pace in the champion hurdle will clearly help a lot more and better ground will help and I think Nico will ride him a bit cooler and get there later next time, as he did look like he would win by 4/5 lengths today jumping the last

I don’t know if whether you can blame it all on idling or being to keen. Surely he can improve a bit, but he reminds me a bit of L’ami Serge. Travels like a dream, but does no do a lot of the bridle.

Nice race by Cornerstone Lad. No free lengths today, but he confirmed his run at the Fighting Fifth giving weight away to his rivals.

Think it was a pretty terrible race

Cornerstone Lad will struggle to win races for a while now

His handicap mark is way too high for him to win a decent one

Cant see him winning another grade 1 and he will have to carry penalties in grade 2s and 3s
