Off the top of my head i dont think i have ever backed the winner of the Christmas hurdle!
Aonoch and Nohalmdun were good to me but not in this race, however things are going to change this year in the shape ofOverturn
. I like this fellows style,he reminds me of an old pal called Floyd who could run from the front and wind things up,he could battle too! Being comparitively useless, compared to Ginge at pricing races up,i always seem to bias the horse i fancy most (Diamond Harry 6/4fav for the Hennessey!
) I did my usual 5min stint through the card and made Binocular 2/1,which he is! Starluck 3/1.which he is too! Overturn 7/2 which he most defineately is not! 7/1 is the industry price and in my world that is too big,i make him an e/w steal at that!£507 e/w

I need to stick my neck out and take you to task on this one. 7/2? about a horse who has never won a Group 1 hurdle race taking on the First and 2nd in the Champion Hurdle..they wouldn’t take 10p at that price Gord.
This is massive increase in Class for Overturn and against 3 horses who are most likely going to strip a lot fitter than he is. I’m not even sure if Donald McCain’s horses are quite right at the moment having had 8 fancied horses out of 9 lose in the last 14 days.
His style of running could see him last out for a place I grant you that but he wouldn’t beat Binocular with a rocket tied to his ass

If I am right in saying you are shooting at the moon it means you are risking 1014 pounds to win a possible 394.25p which is less than 2/5 on your outlay. So unless you think he can actually win that makes you stone mad.
When he gets stuffed please never talk to me about value again

If I survive the current position and get a few quid behind me I’ll stop looking at this as a game get serious and knock that crown right of the top of your head..skuddywallop!!!..You have my word on that…….Fist has spoken.

He"s P*ssed again, like he was last summer,he"s P*ssed again like he was last year! I cant remember when he last backed a winner! He"s P*ssed again and thats very clear! Lets go round and round and up and down he go"s again,P*ssed up time is here..do wop!

December 30, 2010 at 13:39 #334274One of the most exciting horses to jump fences attempts to redeem his most unfortunate last fence fall at Leopardstown today.2 miles may well be a bit sharp but on this heavy ground i expect
Mikael d"Haguenet
to have too much class to lose this, obviously another fall will have questions asked but so long as the less than convincing at times Paul Townend can commit him to his fences,he"s a cert!
£20014 win
Mikael d"Haguenet
4/6 Bet 365 Leopardstown 2.0pm
£15000

First impressions are Mikael wont even get round Cheltenham,he"s too leggy, but Paul Townend never once let him know who was boss,he let the horse make its own mind up at every fence and at every fence he jumped right! Oh dear!
December 30, 2010 at 14:23 #334283Not you too! Fist-like betting, thank God it’s not for real!

Thank god its not for real Carv, although no doubt there would have been serious money burnt in reality,he traded 1/3 in running up to 3 out! I would let him go back hurdling after this and have a pop at Big Bucks in the World Hurdle as i cant see him making it over fences now, another mile wouldn"t have helped today either. Very poor show!
December 30, 2010 at 20:15 #334333you’re on -£3000 now your highness

Got a feeling they turned MDH out too quickly after, he wasn’t right there at all. Think he’ll get a break, a prep run, then Punchestown
December 30, 2010 at 20:45 #334336£20014 win
More embarrassment Diamond! Now i know what Carv meant with the Fist like betting insult! It was meant to be £2014 win! I tried to play up my winnings and failed on a horse who has more questions than answers to contend with!December 30, 2010 at 20:59 #334340i’m more embarrassed, I put some real money on him, didn’t think he could possibly screw up twice in a row, especially after the Zaidpour shocker yesterday…
Live and learn…

Very rarely do i put my own money on odds on diamond but it certainly doesn"t put me off them at double figure prices either! I"ll tell you what i have learnt lately! Paul Townend is nothing special on a horse and Cheltenham will expose his weaknessess for sure, particularly over fences!

If they’re under 2/1 I usually double or treble them, I don’t do big stakes but I like a decent win. It’s not every day you can have a decent lump on Workforce or Diamond Harry at 6s or 10s.

keep up the good work!

Cheers diamond,i guess you weren"t convinced with my best winner of the year then?
Evens and Odds
at 33/1 for the Stewards Cup?

I’m quite new to this place Gord, I linger around the Punters Lounge forum too when I can be bothered posting (work too many long hours), I didn’t know this place existed till Gingertipster mentioned it, I like to do my own thing, though it’s good to see that you share more than a christian name with me, your faith in Diamond Harry the other week helped galvanise me (I really fancied Pandorama too) and it paid for the kids Xmas… I wasn’t on Evens and Odds, didn’t see that at the time, I did notice it when flicking back through the pages, very shrewd!
December 31, 2010 at 11:59 #334400Very disappointed with MDH’s run there Gord surely hes better than that. Not sure we will be seeing his best over fences tis season though. I hope Fist wont hold you to your typo though! Cracking thread keep up the selections mate I hope to see you still in profit by March!
