I am hoping Brametot can buck the trend and actually provide me with a winner. Hope I don’t jinx the horse.
Brametot will be held up and will try to come late and fast.
A deserved success there Steve,Well done….As for my bloody ‘Peace Envoy’…Sprinter,’Commonwealth Cup’ winner at 25/1???
Cheers Gord, Peace Envoy needs to drop back to sprinting. I don’t know whether too many runs last year have counted against him. He’s a horse I imagined turning out as similar to Washington DC but he’s got a bit to go yet to reach that level.
Watching the race again last night I felt Brametot was worthy of a little bit extra credit. He was last at one stage and as he came through to the forefront of affairs he hung right across the track, only stopping hanging when he reached Rivet and then the jockey was able to straighten him up. I thought Fabre’s colt was going to get up but Brametot bravely found about a head in the closing strides.
The leading pair came 3 lengths clear of Rivet and it was a healthy 6 lengths back to the 4th placed colt.
I am doubtful that Rivet could reverse form with Brametot in the Prix Du Jockey Club. Rouget’s colt can be held up and he seems to possess a more potent turn of foot by a good way. Much of the market for that race is populated by horses who won’t be running. I think Al Wukair is short enough at 3/1 and I feel Brametot is the likelier stayer and his odds of 11/2 appeal more. I was quite impressed by Recoletos in the Greffulhe, where he put two of Fabre’s better prospects to the sword. 10/1 seemed worth a bet and I feel Recoletos is still solid each-way at 6/1 for the cautious punters, given he is proven at the trip.
If you showed me a picture of Recoletos’ trainer I doubt I would recognise him but the horse looks a talented improver who has come a long way in a short time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
