Thanks to Mulls74 for pointing out the error of my ways in what has become an obsolete title thread of The Daily Mirror Double and perhaps a clean slate is called for.
Originally taken from the RACING AHEAD 20 SUPER SYSTEMS booklet under the name of the POWER of THREE from which I quote the 4 simple rules: –
1) Non-handicap races only
2) Horse must be forecast favourite
3) Horse must be Strongly Fancied (SF)
4) Horse must be Spotform selection
For non “Red Rag” readers it can easily be adapted by choosing the spot horse if provided in the likes of the Mail and the Sun etc. Perhaps supplementing the SF with the newspapers main tipster. However I do believe the Mirror choices of SF, F and EW are from paddock watchers as depicted in the papers as Newmarket, Lambourne, North or West etc.
I will stay true to the origins of the Mirror and by way of keeping the selection to only one per day I will score the latest two results as per Clive Holt, 1st 5pts. 2nd 3pts. 3rd 2pts. and 4th just 1 pt. selecting the highest.

April 11, 2016 at 18:58 #1242092The result for today (Monday) would have kicked off with a winner: –
Redcar 3.00 Median Auction Maiden Stakes ALBERT BOY form 34 =score of 3pts.
Won at 10/11 but I am unable to say what the earlier or best price was because this is an after-timed selection.

April 12, 2016 at 07:37 #1242124A fresh start for Tuesday.
I thought the system prospect looked good for NATHRA (4.30 Newmarket) but the form figures of 12- related to the previous season and Clive Holt is very clear regarding the use of only the current season form being of consideration and if only one figure is available the score is to be doubled.
However with the point clarified, more for my own regard than anyone else.
Exeter 4.45, a class 5 Maiden Hurdle with 12 declared to run.
STAR TROUPER at 5/4 with BetVictor is my one for today.
Lost

I missed out but as a point of interest it is perhaps worth noting the POWER of THREE system in its pure form (or simply not diluted to find just one selection each day found a very nice winner today in the first race at Southwell in DEEP RESOLVE at 4/1.

April 13, 2016 at 07:12 #1242228There is some conflict with today’s selections being: –
Newmarket 2.45 SUTTER COUNTY only having one race this season and according to Clive Holt the score could/should be doubled but available on the early morning market at odds-on is perhaps best ignored.
Also at Newmarket in the next race the 3.20 GIFTED MASTER looks a nailed on selection but the previous two wins were last season and once again is easily passed also being odds-on.
Cheltenham 4.45 FOX NORTON is my choice in a class 2 novice chase with Spot/SF/Fav. and scores 6 from two previous second places. Won 8/11
Available at 11/8 with Ladbrokes.

I incorrectly scored FOX NORTON with 6pts. counting the previous 3 races when it should have scored 4pts from the previous 2 races. Won
Still passing on SUTTER COUNTY & GIFTED MASTER due to such small odds, which leaves to horses with a score of 5pts. each. Both won
Beverley 2.35 DECADENT TIMES @ 1/1 Lost
Cheltenham 1.50 MISTER MIYAGI @ 9/4 Won 13/8
A small amount of serendipity is always welcome finding a lucky winner with FOX NORTON.

April 14, 2016 at 10:04 #1242327Because I am searching for one (or equal) selection it creates a problem now and again.
I really am not very enthusiastic regarding NH Flat races (bumpers) but that is where todays choice comes from.
Cheltenham 5.20 MERIBEL MILLIE @ 3/1 BetVictor Lost It has just one form figure of 1 and under Clive Holt’s rules the single score of 5 is therefore doubled.
Other non handicap choices are both at Chelmsford.
6.10 Second Serve Won 11/10
9.10 Paddy Power. Won 4/6Billy's Outback Shack
April 15, 2016 at 08:05 #1242403Get behind me “Tinker Man” is what I am thinking but the feeling is almost irresistible.
I really do like this idea now I have embraced the concept of NON handicap races. Firstly it reduces the race numbers but still offers sufficient to keep the interest.
I have noticed some winners being allowed to pass by which of course mostly step up in the lowly price regions and I am of the opinion are perhaps best utilised as multiple bets which I pass on.
Remaining with the recent best form score today finds: –
Fontwell 2.10 SAINT ROQUE @ 11/8 with BetVictor – 3 non runners – Won 5/4
Now comes the “tinkering”: I, as I am sure many systemites will have come across suggestions that betting only those at the largest of prices will prove profitable when bringing some systems into play and so with the Daily Mirror at hand I will select from the all the selections (ignoring the form score) the one with the greatest forecast price: –
Bath 6.20 RIDGE RANGER (FcSp 4/1) only available at 9/4 bet365. Lost

April 16, 2016 at 07:31 #1242578All is not clear surrounding the form in order to score in accord with the Clive Holt recent form formula.
To quickly run through the possible selections: –BESHARA 2.10 Chelmsford (form = 32113-) Lost
SEPTEMBER STARS 5.55 Nottingham (3-) Maiden race Lost
BEWARE THE BEAR 2.15 Bangor (22-243) Maiden Won 8/11
GENERAL ALEXANDER 5.15 Thirsk (4002-2) LostMERE IRONMONGER Ayr 5.55 (1) NH Flat race. Lost
MERE IRONMONGER becomes the choice if any current season single race position is to be doubled 1st = 5pts x 2 becomes 10pts.
Also has the largest forecast starting price of 3/1.Available at 11/4 with bet365

April 16, 2016 at 21:28 #1242722It looks like the old song – Never on a Sunday.
RED TORNADO (4.20 Wetherby) Non runner and ZUBAYR (2.25 Wincanton) Won 1/8 both prices are as small as interest in the Building Society.

April 18, 2016 at 09:53 #1242839Monday: –
Huntingdon 5.50 VINCIAETTIS is a short price at 11/10 with BetVictor but interesting. It has the form 121 with a score of 8 from the two recent races. Lost
Two others having the SPOT/SF/FcFav are: –
Pontefract 2.10 DUSKER Lost
Windsor 5.50 BAADI Won 2/5

April 19, 2016 at 09:45 #1242901Not much to excite me today with the main contenders at odds-on.
The one however at the largest forecast sp (without a recent win) but in a Hunters Chase is: –
Kempton 5.00 TWIRLING MAGNET at 4/1 Coral
