Ummmmmmm I got a few things wrong there. firstly how bad were Gloucester either their early good wins this season were against even worse teams.
…….. Or Somerset are incredibly superior…..
, I like both but will settle for the second.
…although I’m sure there is a much better reason for it.Trego didn’t really look in the top nick he has all season although he did hit 1 huge six. He hit the ball hard enough but kept finding the fielder instead of the gaps.
I said Kieswetter was the most likely danger so I was almost right. Should of gone with him as a saver….

May 14, 2011 at 22:18 #355488You’ve not heard this from me but if ever Somerset could be vulnerable it could well be tomorrow against
Lancashire
who need the points after a mixed start to the 40 over competition. They had the week off in the County Championship so should be eager to have ago at a side they destroyed in the 4 day game and if they can translate the form from the 4 day game which sees them as the only side to remain unbeaten and sitting 2nd in the table with a game in hand they would stand a good chance.
Somerset have had a tough trip to Durham this week and after hitting over 6oo runs in just over a day and a half and then set up a great winning chance by bowling Durham out in the 1st session of the 3rd day for 280 something they must be shattered to only finish with a draw, bowling non stop for 2 and a half days solid on a road of a wicket.
Also Kieswetter has been the main man in form so far in the 40 over comp but is out injured.
I will as always be cheering on Somerset but would not put anyone off backing Lancs at 6/4.

May 15, 2011 at 21:07 #355607Wow that was just too easy for Somerset I’m shocked at how poor Lancashire were. Everything is looking rosy now with Trescothick well and truly back to his brilliant best. A trip to Sussex next in the CC which will see the loss of Hildreth to the Lions side but after that the team will be boosted by the return of their 2 best bowlers Kartik and Thomas. If this side does not win a cup this season it will be devastating they are that strong, trouble is there is plenty that can perform on the day in a knockout situation and one bad performance at that stage and your gone as what happened in both of last years finals.
If there is 1 thing I’ve learnt today and that is to never doubt the best county team on the plant……..

May 25, 2011 at 17:19 #357193Went down the ground today. Apart from 1 early chance Trescothick look in imperious touch and if there’s a market for the impending 20/20 for top batsmen I’d want to be on him, he’s on fire…..

May 26, 2011 at 10:05 #357313Where’s Zamorstan theses days? A couple mates I bumped into yesterday were saying they were mightily impressed with the Yorkie keeper Bairstow and think he could be in with a shout of maybe even England chance in the near future.

He survived a few early scares in his 2nd innings. Sidebottom had a big LBW appeal turned down and then a caught and bowled chance which the bowler couldn’t quite get his balance from his follow through and also off Sidebottom, Trescothick hit one through mid week which just went a yard past Rashid. But he soon got into 5th gear after that. Shame I had to get home……

June 5, 2011 at 14:55 #359076Nathan,
If you are a Sky subscriber you should tune into ESPN Classic this afternoon at 6.00pm. They are showing a repeat of the 1981 B&H Cup Final between Somerset and Surrey. Those were the days with Botham, Richards and Garner and proper one day cricket with a final at Lords to look forward to, not like todays 20/20 overkill
June 5, 2011 at 21:16 #359152Thanks for the heads up Pat….

Shame I knew nothing about it. Didn’t get home tonight till just now so would of missed it anyway.
81 ah, I would of been 1 years old, but feel as though I’ve been through every game from that era as all the old boys down the County ground and on the Somerset forum keep banging on about it.
I’m not overly keen on T20 but have been surprised at when I’ve been down for County Championship matches at Taunton this season I’ve noticed an increased rise in numbers of people watching. It might be because the team is a genuine contender to win the thing or many other reason but I wonder how many are down to people who just started out at watching T20 and have got into the sport. I wonder what attendances have been like elsewhere.

I am
Wednesday, 1 June 2011
Friends Life T20Hampshire: 146-3 (18.3 overs)
Somerset: 145-7 (20.0 overs)Hampshire beat Somerset by 7 wickets

June 6, 2011 at 20:28 #359299Credit where it is due Hampshire have started very brightly. The 2 opening batsmen are very dangerous. If Dimi stays fit you have one of the best one day bowlers at your disposal and the 2 spinners will be both economical and take wickets. What’s the crack with Afridi? Some player if they get him. I do hate Cork however…

I am not as confident about you sides chances of winning the whole thing as I am about Somerset’s but they are becoming painful opponents…..

Shame they are lingering bottom of the CC……….

July 11, 2011 at 11:56 #364269Well Somerset have qualified to the Quarters of T20 but have looked a very ordinary side at times this season and are not playing to the same consistences of last season.
Keep the faith……..

August 3, 2011 at 22:29 #367052Rumours about a pitch inspector at Taunton. The ball was only turning half a mile honest…….

Looking a good run in to the end of the season, 4 teams still in with a chance, 5 if Notts get their act together, I’ve discounted Sussex for now. I got Somerset at 12’s but think Warwickshire look the danger with their run in of fixtures left.

Not Wales in the Rugby
Not Sunderland’s point..
Not Yorkiedips winning doubles
Not Kingfisher’s recovery
Not even England’s hammering of IndiaYep it’s Hampshire’s winning v Durham in the CC……..

August 20, 2011 at 22:07 #368769And now Hampshire go and beat Warwickshire, how fab is that.

I notice their turnaround in the County Championship fortunes has been a result of Pompete’s absence from the forum, I hope he is back before Somerset’s game with them in the CC.

Nope, you can get Evens in most places and some 23/20 with 888. Gimme gimme gimme!
