It truly was a stupendous performance!
I work with an Aussie guy and he was more like a whinging pom on Mon!!!
"bad decision over Haddin, lucky catch to get Watson out…" etc etcEng really were the best side in the tournament – wow!
Well done on picking Kieswetter, Nathan – though you must have wondered if KP was going to do it again.

May 18, 2010 at 14:32 #296151Pieterson has been in unstoppable mood hasn’t he and i was concerned he was going to out do Kieswetter so i was quietly please when he got dismissed as the game was already in the bag barring a collapse of mega proportions. KP’s attitude seems so much better these days and you could tell by the way he celebrated at the end how proud he was of the team and not just himself as maybe could of been said of him in the past.

May 19, 2010 at 08:32 #296208What a truly incredible performance. I don`t think any of us can believe it. Can`t fault any of them. Still shell shocked really. I liked the last coach but this fella must be something special to generate this kind of feeling in the team. Outstanding.

Of the outsiders, i’ll take a chance on a young Yorkshireman by the name of Adam Lyth. In his first full(ish) season, scored 645 runs, and ended up opening the batting. A left hander of maximum potential, he could easily top a thousand with a good run in the side.
0.5pt e/w Adam Lyth @ 80/1.
Quoted as post April 2009!!! Looks like I was a year too soon with Lyth! He was 50/1 at the start of this season too and I didn’t back him. He’s just passed the 700 run mark.
Swear Word.
May 24, 2010 at 18:44 #296741Hi Blunkett, good bit of talent spotting there with Lyth, unlucky with not having your bet this year.
Anyway Blunkett, when are you Yorkshire boys going to learn you cant come on down to Taunton and set Somerset a run chase, I would have thought you guys would have learnt you lesson last year when Trego smoked you everywhere, next season either field first or play for the draw.

May 24, 2010 at 19:38 #296748Don’t start Nathan, I’m still recovering from being Trego’d last year. At least I wasn’t in attendance this time!
I’ll be venturing down to Chelmsford in July to watch the White Rose destroy Essex. Or something.
May 28, 2010 at 09:07 #297228If you haven’t done it yet, don’t worry there is still just enough time to get your dosh on Somerset winning the 20/20. The club are, last I heard still unsure about whether or not Cameron White will be made available from cricket Australia but with only two spots being made for overseas positions Somerset will be better balanced to included Murali Kartik in the bowling department to accompany Kieron Pollard as the other overseas player who will miss the opener v Sussex but is available for the remainder.
Max’s Notts – no chance
Andrew’s Worcester – dream on

May 29, 2010 at 11:14 #297435I know what you mean about Bangladesh wanting them to do well, they are at a better standard now then a few years back and will probably give us a hiding next time we face them.
Not exactly a hiding but they are certainly enjoying themselves at Lords.

May 29, 2010 at 19:45 #297547Nathan, I cannot let your slur on the good name of the Royals pass and so I have this very hour put good money on them winning the Everybody Loves Raymond Charity Shield Knockout Thingy (not sure I’ve got that name right) at odds of 40-1.
May 29, 2010 at 22:20 #297570The Royals had me briefly worried for a few moments at Bath last weekend until Ben Phillips showed his arms were quicker than his legs with some big hits. Getting Solanki first ball helped the caused but once the rally from Ali and Jacques ended it looked like Worcester’s middle order was more flimsy than a wet tissue.

What a difference the overhead conditions and bowling Finn and Anderson at the right ends made in the Test match.

May 30, 2010 at 16:51 #297651Great century there by tamin iqbal, like a left handed sehwag.
Really pleased for him and the Bangles.May 30, 2010 at 23:01 #297700He played and missed at a fair few but the ones he hit stayed hit and were a pleasure to watch, I was glued to the action.

May 31, 2010 at 21:54 #297885Just read there might be a chance Pollard gets a Test call up, which would prevent him from destroying the likes of the Royals, what with White not coming over until the later stages it’s fingers firmly crossed time
although Trescothick, Kieswetter, Hildreth, Trego and co are still more than capable of bringing home the bacon.

June 1, 2010 at 06:46 #297916Whilst nothing can be ruled out in the mixed up world of West Indian cricket, I would be surprised if they added Pollard to the Test squad, given that his average time at the crease appears to be about four overs. A line up of Gayle, Richards, Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Nash and Dwayne Bravo leaves little room for Pullhard and if its spare batsmen they want, then Darren Bravo or Lendl Simmons should fit the bill, whilst there are better bowling all-rounders in Sammy and the aforementioned Bravo snr.
I think the other KP is pretty short odds to be lining up for Somerset at some point later this week.
