Good thinking re De Bruyn.Let us know if you get those odds.

Ramprakash looks fine, not sure I would want 7-1 though about a 40 year old. And if Surrey keep playing like this he may decide to pack it in before Ascot.

I almost daren’t mention Worcestershire’s fine win against Middlesex. I’m surprised the words, ‘Points’ and ‘Deduction’ have not been mentioned together given the clatter of wickets at New Road.

I did pop up the shop the other day re. De Bruyn but the good staff were off, so after explaining the situation to the two young assistants it seemed they weren’t prepared or were unsure how to help, all one of them kept doing was scrolling up and down the list saying they couldn’t find him.

Compton has been in form in pre-season and Suppiah opening so De Bruyn will probably keep his spot at 5 or 6 so I’m leaving it alone.

Good result for Worcester and one thing i noticed from all the games was that there was/seemed more positive results, hope that continues although it might just be early season weather/pitches helping the bowlers.

It could very well be that not allowing the heavy roller to be used between innings this season is the reason behind these results. we will see i suppose.

Yes, very true Roland, could be an interesting season.

I cant believe Somerset have let Wes Durston go and worse than that it seems no other county side have signed him up, he will be playing in the 40 over competition for the minor county side that has been named the Unicorns. I shouldn’t laugh because they are in Somerset’s group and Durston will possibly hit a century and the Unicorns win.

Good all round player Wes, never really got the opportunities he deserved but always performed well and had a lot of energy and enthusiasm, best of luck to the chap.

That Unicorn team will be well up for their clash with Somerset on May 9th, won’t they – Wes Durston won’t be lacking in motivation to prove a point, and captain Keith Parsons has, I believe, had a very successful time of it in local cricket since retiring from the county scene at the age of 276. 8)

Assuming there is still (was there ever?) some sort of quota on how many over 26s can be fielded in a Second XI Championship game, it was unfortunate that the 29-year-old Durston’s contract expired at the end of a year in which he’d not regained a foothold in the first team.

However, I tend to agree with Nathan’s general thrust that it was still an indecently hasty move on the part of the executive not to retain him, given what he can be and is capable of especially in the shorter forms of the game.

 I often see Keith’s Dad in the bookies, better not ask him how old he is then.

I take it your joking Graysons, either that all I’ve got the wrong Mr Parsons. :?

Anyways get your money on Somerset to beat Notts 13/8 draw no bet. Great sides don’t often lose 2 in a row and Somerset in my warped bias confused opinion are a great side. :D

I have to say the BBC’s Internet radio coverage of all county championship games is brilliant. How long has this been going on, is it new? It beats watching teletext all day long thats for sure.

On a similar subject, do you know what’s happened with Michael Munday during 2009?

    gc

Munday has recently agreed to a one year deal at Somerset for the 2010 season.

Graysons, thought you might want to know and if you didn’t wamt to know thought id tell you anyway that Michael Munday is in the middle of making his 1st appearance of the season in the Championship match v Essex.

    Is Yardy playing??

He can hold a bat and if Pakistan rip through the top order could be big odds at 25/1.

Nice to see England making a fist of things with the inclusion of more ‘hitters’. Personally, I would make a couple of tweeks to the batting line-up. There is no doubt unless we are two wickets down cheaply Morgan should go in ahead of Collingwood and I would have Broad going in after Luke Wright at seven.

Can’t believe how well Eng are playing in this…

Surely they’re not gonna make a World Cup final!!!

Well they made the final but it is a huge ask to beat the Australians.

The Australians were on their knees in the semi-final but still got home. I think their number six and seven hit eleven sixes between them and I can see them handing out some fearful stick to our bowling. We will need our openers to fire again and big contributions from Pietersen and Morgan to even be competitive.

Let’s just hope Eng have one more mighty performance in them.

Like ya say, Stilvi, our openers need to take the initiative and dominate. They certainly had their luck last time against Sri Lanka, though!

TBH, it is just amazing that we are about to watch Eng in a World Cup Final. I know some on here touted our team, but I really thought that was pie in the sky.

Have to side with England to win this one at the odds in what looks a 50/50 game. Kieswetter to top score for good measure. :D

Wonderful performance from England who have played aggressive positive cricket throughout the cup. I’ve been a big critic of the England cricket team even when beating the Aussie’s and South African’s at Test level i wasn’t convinced but they have converted me for now and Collingwood has been inspirational as leader and deserves alot a praise. A very proud day.
