    This is beyond shameful – I haven’t.

Waitrose don’t seem to do it and I need to get my act together and make alternative plans.

Reminding myself, I see it’s described as “Scotland’s answer to Roquefort.”

I love Roquefort so I really need to figure out a way to obtain some of this stuff.

    Great recommendation from CAS.

    Deep fried Roquefort? 🤔

I was tempted by some reduced goat’s cheese in Waitrose. It was delicious and went back the next day and picked up a bit more BILLY.

I will check that out, gamble.

Really disappointed Waitrose don’t stock CAS’s recommendation.

I found six items today left mostly in central London streets. One a small grey plastic bathroom waste bin with a handle which had ‘take me’ enticingly attached to it. One was the top of a thrown away Starbucks beaker – something I needed strangely. A long black comb with a full set of teeth. A blue and white 100% cotton jumper hung over a bench in Notting Hill which surprisingly matched my blue shorts, blue singlet, and blue shoes with brown laces I respectfully sat next to the jumper for fifteen minutes before taking ownership – that’s fair ! A rather superior face mask in the pocket of a coat for sale in a Cancer Research charity shop and oddly enough a cut glass wine glass left next to a half drunk bottle of lager in the alley next to the Ivy in Kensington High Street. I flicked the top of the glass, when I got home, to check it pinged as cut glasses do, and then promptly walked to Waitrose and bought a packet of light Leddarmer £1.59 and a bottle of Italian Red £4.99 to test it out . I am teetotal at the moment but that excludes the days I find a nicely shaped cut glass wine glass sitting on the street begging me for a trial.

I was almost tempted by the goat cheese Ian is possibly going to try, but my pocket shouted NO !

With a big weekend of sport before us – racing this afternoon, the Open golf, the T20 cricket semi finals and final, and the hurling final tomorrow – I had to order some more cheese to keep me going, including a nice piece of Lanark Blue.

Some St Andrew’s cheddar seemed appropriate as well.

I visited my local cheese shop this morning to stock up with supplies for the next three days. It includes a very good piece of Lanark Blue.

Has Mr Davies tracked any down yet?

    No!

And the instant I saw this thread and you as last poster, CAS, it all came flooding back!

I don’t really get into any shop beyond my local Waitrose – maybe I should buy some online?

I can confirm Ian that Lanark Blue is a fine cheese. If you cannot source it
from a deli down south you can order it from the makers in Lanark, although
you have to bear the delivery charge of £5.95. It is a nice cheese especially
    with a nice wine.

Chezza doesn’t drink alcohol – alcohol for grown ups and, as many here will surely agree, Chezza isn’t (and never will be) a grown up.

But Chezza does drink “pop” and Chezza does eat cheese!

An internet order might be in, well, order.

I can just picture Chezza sitting on his sofa , cheese in one hand , glass of tizer in the other rewatching the champion hurdle over and over ….

Shamefully, I’ve still yet to try the Lanark Blue, but I still had some cheese left over from Salisbury races yesterday to consume, so I cut into up into bite-size pieces and ate it with a small pot of Crosta Mollica Amarena Cherry Conserve made in Italy.

It proved a pleasant combination to my unsophisticated tastes.

Reading back over this thread, was TTC still posting here as recently as last year?

    I thought it was longer.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand why he was removed and I’ve no issues with it.

But I do miss him – he was so brutally (and often hilariously) honest in the way he went about expressing his personal views, including about what he saw as his own frailties.

It’s getting on for two years since Captain Robbo performed the biggest miracle since Lazarus – and got me interested in the Shergar Cup! – too.

Time can be a right b*****d – sometimes.
