There comes a time when a man has to nail his colours to the Big Cheese mast.
Roquefort for me – it’s a Man’s Cheese.
The Big Cheese.
What’s your preference?
(If you’re even considering typing “Philadelphia” never darken these doors again!)

Not sure I could pick a favourite but I very much like Sparkenhoe Red Leicester and Mrs Appleby’s Cheshire. And Baron Bigod Brie is delicious.
If you have not read it, I highly recommend this book to any fellow cheese fanatics:

When it comes to cheese, I’m a hard man, can’t be doing with that Feta and Brie muck. I’m far from being a foodie though, my tastes are simple and I love a bit of mature Cheddar. Also been known to purchase Edam and Emmental, especially if it’s on offer.
March 4, 2021 at 23:14 #1527133I quite like Mature Cheddar and Red Leicester, but when I started work back in the eighties used to work with a bloke who liked Blue Stilton. Too strong for me

Also quite like Goat’s Cheese in moderation

You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.

You can take the lad out of Smoggyland, but you can’t take Smoggyland out of the lad.

So many cheeses to choose from, Rummy, at least you gave it a bash
March 4, 2021 at 23:25 #1527138At least I didn’t say Babybel which is just as bad as Philadelphia

And as I’ll hopefully be moving near there soon… Cheddar (mature or medium).

There are almost certainly lots of cheeses out there that I’d prefer to Cheddar, but I’m not likely to ever try them.
What you’ve never had, you never miss. So it’s all good

March 5, 2021 at 06:35 #1527160What’s any of that got to do with Cheese?

Stilton is a protected name and can only be made within the boundaries of Derbyshire, Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire. The village of Stilton is in Cambridgeshire (and before that in Huntingdonshire).
March 5, 2021 at 10:40 #1527172Can’t stand blue, or as I call it mouldy cheese and not keen on goats cheese either.
I do like a really ripe, stinky Brie or Camembert and am quite partial to an Applewood smoked and a Mexicana Chili.
Cheddar and Red Leicester are fine but I’m not keen on the crumbly cheeses like Cheshire or Wensleydale – more due to texture than flavour.
