We’ve teamed up with the creators of top racing sim Starters Orders 4 to bring you a free-to-enter competition just in time for Goodwood.
For those of you who have never heard of it, have a read of our review here:
https://theracingforum.co.uk/horse-r … ame-review
And for those of you who want to win it, enter our simple comp:

A big thanks to Mark Loveday, the brains behind the whole idea for a great game and being generous enough to offer 3 copies for the top 3 entrants.

July 26, 2010 at 10:00 #308792Neither are a patch on the greatest racing sim of all time:
Grand Theft Equine – Shaftesbury City Stories
Basically, you’re a gangster who goes around doping, ringing-in, fixing races and corrupting jockeys.
As in the GTA series, response levels from the huge squad of integrity police is governed by your wanted level using a star system.
One Star – very minor crimes such as laying your own horse while failing to give an impalusible excuse
Two Stars – slightly more serious offences such as obvioulsy stopping a horse or doping it
Three Stars – quite serious offences such as disconnecting the water supply at beverley so they can’t water out the bias
Four Stars – major offences such as careless riding or using the whip too many times or being caught getting on each-way in a 16 runner handicap
Five Stars – crimes of high treason such as walking into Salisbury memebers with neither a tie nor cravat donned
At one star you’ll get one hob nob eating ex-cop assigned to you. Five stars and there’ll be a swarm of hundreds of the gold-plated pension brigade chasing you sirens blazing.
You keep score by how much money you make from all your dodgy dealings, though you lose money every time Scotney’s boys catch up with you and find you guilty. I was playing last night and managed to fix the entire first day of Glorious Goodwood using a mixture of jockey bungs, pegasus pills and ringers in. I made five mil on the betting but when my wanted status reached two stars and I was dragged back to Shaftesbury Avenue I had to give a little back when they fined me three guineas.

July 26, 2010 at 10:15 #308796Love Starters Orders 4 The breeding side of the game is brilliant. Having not tried/seen the others mentioned, i’ll have to have a look.
What i will say is the Starters Orders stewards should take over real racing…….at least they are consistant!!!
July 26, 2010 at 10:35 #308798It’s not realistic though Ardross – I set the riding instructions to "hold up", "go easy" etc. in a Cork Maiden Hurdle and got banned for non-trying

I must say this is a fantastic competition again, I’ll eco the sentiments that Starters Orders 4 is a superb game but its even better when there is an online league which sadly collapsed.
I was just wondering if maybe The Racing Forum could start up its own Starters Orders 4 league? not sure it would cost much but if we could get like 15-20 people to buy the game to join the league it would be a boost for the game creators and maybe they could exchange or help out with the platform needed to run a league.
Bit optimistic I know but worth a shout.

They don’t even have to buy the game. Just get them to download it and the people who have bought it (like me) can share their product keys. I bought SO3 last year and gave the product key to four or five of my friends and it worked perfectly – on five different computers all at once.
Perhaps it should’t be done, but I haven’t read anywhere that states you must only use the product key once and on your own computer.

July 26, 2010 at 15:54 #308863Nice one Glenn.
July 26, 2010 at 15:54 #308864Havent tried that game, Irish Stamp. Will definitely have a gander.
And thanks for supporting ‘our friends at Strategic Designs’,OneEye(!)
The competition will be a bit of fun and will keep interest going for the week, with a nice little prize to win at the end. For anyone who hasn’t played it, it’s well worth the £20!
A TRF league would be great fun, and we’ll definitely have to put a bit of thought into it and who knows
July 26, 2010 at 16:30 #308874Computer Timeform for the thinking man, Raceform Interactive for the proletariat

Hours of fun guaranteed
The optional Betfair add-on is recommended for advanced players only
Years of fun not guaranteed
July 26, 2010 at 16:34 #308876Do you know if you can export ratings out of Computer Timeform or Timeform Interactive, Drone?
